MIRA BY GATHERING REOPENS FOR SUMMER 2025

This summer, Ibiza’s cultural landscape is redefined as GATHERING Ibiza and its courtyard restaurant MIRA reopen for the 2025 season. A satellite of London’s cutting-edge contemporary art gallery GATHERING, the venue seamlessly fuses art, hospitality, and music in a hybrid setting that transcends the traditional gallery model. More than just a place to eat or view art, MIRA presents itself as Ibiza’s first contemporary salon - a place where conversations stretch into the night and creativity takes on many forms.

Located in Sant Miquel de Balansat, MIRA reopens with a renewed commitment to creating an intimate, vibrant space for cross-cultural exchange. With its dim lighting, atmospheric design, and cosmopolitan spirit, the venue recalls the underground energy of Mexico City’s culinary scene and the irreverent magic of Ibiza. It offers more than meals - it offers belonging.

Visitors can expect a rotating program of chef residencies, artist-led discussions, and exclusive pop-up events. From vinyl-only DJ sets during the Sunday Aperitivo Analogico to digital listening bar nights on Mondays, the venue curates a rhythm that feels both casual and curated. International guest chefs from cities like Barcelona, Mexico City, and London join forces in 4-hands dinners, while fashion and art fuse through curated pop-ups, enriching the island’s evolving creative landscape.

MIRA itself is a work of art, conceptualized and designed in collaboration with Turner Prize-winning artist Tai Shani. Her signature breast-shaped blown-glass lanterns float above a bold pink bar, bringing a surreal, sculptural element to the dining space. A mirrored spray painting by conceptual artist Stefan Brüggemann adds a sleek, reflective layer to the venue’s exterior. Centered in the garden, Shani’s sculptural candle - a nod to her installation for New York’s High Line - grounds the experience with theatrical flair.

Adding to its dynamic nature, the venue debuts a new late-night setting this season, infused with the lush glamour of the 1970s, extending its role as a nighttime cultural hub.

This season’s headline exhibition, Sunset Strip, runs from 24th June 24 to 1st September  2025. Curated in collaboration with Berlin’s SOCIÉTÉ gallery, the show features 17 international artists including Petra Cortright, Tamara K.E., Tai Shani, and Marianna Simnett. Using mediums like ceramics, textiles, and painting, the works draw on imagery of island life - tropical flora, swimming pool tiles, bold hues - to reframe Ibiza as a salt-kissed haven for contemporary art.

At the heart of the exhibition lies a conceptual nod to David Hockney’s iconic Californian tableaux. Sebastian Riemer’s HOCKNEY 1967 A Bigger Splash sets the tone, offering a contemporary reimagining of sun-drenched pleasure and utopian idealism. The show, in turn, reframes Ibiza as a liminal space - salt-sprayed and foamy - where escapism and critique collide.

Founded in 2024, GATHERING Ibiza has quickly emerged as a cultural force on the island, known for its radical programming and experimental ethos. With this exhibition, it deepens its mission of site-specific and community-focused engagement. SOCIÉTÉ, known for its curatorial edge and global presence, brings an international perspective that complements and elevates the collaboration.Together, the two galleries establish a bold platform for dialogue between experimental practices and global narratives, marking a new chapter in Ibiza’s creative evolution.
