WOLKE BY WESTWING IS BASICALLY A CLOUD IN SOFA FORM

words by ANOUK WOUDT

Westwing introduces its newest creation with WOLKE, a sofa sculpted to replicate a cloud-like silhouette, evoking the same architectural craftsmanship as a piece of haute couture. Instantly enveloping a room with its presence, the design is strikingly bold while holding an inviting sense of lightness through contoured bulbous forms and elegant proportions.

Through its sculptural design, WOLKE stands out in a room as a piece of art rather than just as a functional piece of furniture. Translated from German as ‘cloud’, this identity is reflected through its burgeoning shape that can just as easily be pictured in the sky. Rounded edges and plush forms give way to a simple yet refined structure that naturally draws a lingering eye to its focal point.

Designed with fashion as a reference, Westwing introduces WOLKE as the it-bag of the couch world, positing itself amongst the Birkin, City Bag and Paddingtons. In the same way that these bags have become so distinctly recognisable in their silhouette, WOLKE aims to do the same, serving as an iconic pillar of the Westwing brand.

This idea is expressed through their campaign, which portrays the WOLKE sofa in a Mini Bag form. The bag is modelled on the sofa itself, with each crevice mimicking its original full-sized mould. Worn as a fashionable accessory, the campaign mimics WOLKE’s status as a design statement and much more than just a place to sit. It’s for the design lovers, artists, individualists and anyone who views their home as a means of self-expression.

Created through carefully curated fabrics and defined proportions, this sofa is breaking down the boundaries of interior design, opting for a more conceptual approach to furnishing. Its modular structure affords many stylistic configurations, allowing it to be personalizable while maintaining its signature identity.

Through different colourways and patterns, the shape stays the baseline, crafting its own stylistic persona. Offered in a striped version, this style brings another layer to its form, contrasting strong graphics with a soft, pillowed finish that balances playfulness with a heightened artistic approach.
