APPLIED ART FORMS OPENS ITS FIRST FLAGSHIP IN AMSTERDAM

Applied Art Forms has officially opened the doors to its first flagship store in Amsterdam, and it’s every bit as refined, thoughtful, and cool as we all expected. Founded by Guy Berryman (yes, the Coldplay bassist turned designer), the label has always been about the meeting point, where military references meet meticulous construction and are transformed through contemporary lens into today’s fashion. Now, that philosophy has found its physical form.

Berryman, who studied architecture before music took over, oversaw every detail himself. Original wooden beams juxtaposition industrial concrete, mirrored accents, and soft, warm light. It is a tactile reflection of Applied Art Forms’ signature mix of structure and soul.

Located on Utrechtsestraat 139, the space feels less like a store and more like a design studio that happens to sell clothes. Beyond its ready-to-wear collections, the store curates everything from art books to mid-century furniture and vinyl — there’s even a listening bar and modular record wall designed by Berryman himself.

“It was essential to find the perfect space before defining the concept,” Berryman says. “This flagship represents the physical expression of the brand. It offers a context through which people can understand our garments, our influences and our values. It’s designed from the heart, like a home I genuinely want to spend time in.”

It’s a place for conversations, and culture — a creative hub disguised as a flagship.
