CARHARTT WIP HAS OPENED ITS NEWEST STORE IN AMSTERDAM
Currently located on Utrechtsestraat and Hartenstraat, Carhartt WIP is now expanding to the Nieuwe Spiegelstraat, making its way across all the best corners of Amsterdam. Designed by Salomée Faeh and the Milan-based architecture studio of Andrea Caputo, the spacious location sits right in the middle of the Spiegelkwartier – an historic district known for its art galleries and antiques. In honour of this new location, the space acts both as a shop and an art gallery, showcasing commissioned artwork by Amsterdam-based multimedia artist Nazif Lopulissa.
Fulfilling its heritage, the store surrounds you with white walls that carry a stripped-back workwear appeal that is practically synonymous with the Carhartt WIP style. The design feels very industrial, featuring concrete fixtures, exposed ductwork, and glass vitrines, which also appear in their other stores. Decorating the frontlines, two life-sized, marble Carhartt WIP Boogeymen appear at the entrance, backdropped by a towering steel display and a large speaker system mounted at the top.
The space used to be an art gallery, making it the perfect space to host visual art and other forms of art, namely fashion. Opened at the end of May, the store is ready for all your shopping endeavours, but also open to any art-lovers curious to stroll and have a look at the artwork.
