ALEXANDER MCQUEEN TO MAKE LONDON FASHION WEEK COMEBACK
words by BEX WHITLEY
The British house has confirmed its return to the official London Fashion Week schedule for Spring/Summer 2027. The moment marks the first show for the brand under Creative Director Seán McGirr, who took over in 2024 following his time as Head of Ready-to-Wear for JW Anderson.

Set to take place in September, the show will feature both menswear and womenswear. Attendees can expect sharp tailoring and signature occasion dressing. There has been plenty of speculation as to how McGirr will reimagine the brand, however it appears London as a source of inspiration will be a theme that runs throughout.
London is centric to the brand’s roots, with both the birth and death of McQueen himself happening in the city. While many brands have headed to Paris in recent years, Mcqueen’s return comes as the British Fashion Council aims to reposition London Fashion Week, strengthening it within the global fashion calendar. The move for McQueen was likely a result of significant investment from Kering, formerly known as the Gucci Group.
“London has always been at the heart of McQueen; there’s a uniquely visceral energy to the city that runs throughout the house’s history and continues to inspire everything we do today. Returning to London Fashion Week allows us to deeply engage with that spirit and the creative community that defines both London and this house.”
While McQueen hasn't shown on the London Fashion Week schedule since 2001, the brand has staged standalone events in the city more recently - including an SS23 show at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich. Under then-creative director Sarah Burton, the show was met with positive critical acclaim, considered a masterclass in modern tailoring.
“London is where our story began and remains central to our identity.”
