EVERYTHING YOU MISSED THIS WEEK

An editor once said something along the lines of: “Fashion never goes on vacation — and neither do we.” And while that might almost be true, even fashion needs a breather. August is that rare moment in the year when the industry slows down, the out-of-office replies pile up, and the usually chaotic world of fashion takes a collective pause. Designers retreat, editors recharge, and Instagram turns into a collection of sun-drenched getaways and linen outfits. But now, September is here, and so are new campaigns and fashion week schedules. The silence has officially been broken. The out-of-office messages are off, the inboxes are buzzing, and yes, we’re back to being workaholics (and loving it, just a little). This week, fashion news returned with a bang, and so have we, with your favorite weekly recap.

Now, enough chit-chat! Scroll down and catch up on everything important you missed this week.

VALENTINO BEAUTY REOPENS STUDIO 54 FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY

Valentino knows how to throw a party — and during New York Fashion Week, the brand proved it once again. For one unforgettable night, Valentino Beauty reopened the legendary Studio 54, transforming it into a glittering tribute to the disco era. Mirror balls, dazzling outfits, and glamorous makeup set the tone, reviving the spirit of the '70s. The guest list was just as iconic, with appearances from Cher, Bianca Jagger, and an array of modern stars including Lenny Kravitz, FKA Twigs, Sophie Thatcher, Christopher Briney, Benito Skinner, Jemima Kirke, Tessa Thompson, Evan Ross, Lourdes Leon, and Rowan Blanchard — all part of Valentino’s circle of Friends of the House. To top it all off, the night featured live music and theatrical performances, including an aerial show by Violet Chachki and Rollerena-inspired dancers, creating a truly magical, high-energy celebration.

DURAN LANTINK GETS WILD WITH DURANIMAL CAMPAIGN

Duran Lantink is getting even wilder this season - in the best way possible. Now based in Paris, the designer continues to do what he does best: keep up the shock factor with unapologetic creativity. Another out-of-this-world idea came to life this week, and what some might call outrageous, we call genius. Feeling a bit Duranimal? We definitely are. The campaign shot but Juergen Teller, of course, stars none other than Alex Consani and Leon Dame, because who else could carry this off? Think: a zebra-striped butt in close-up, hair included. And yes, the iconic prosthetic breasts make their glorious return. It’s provocative, absurd, and undeniably real, exactly what fashion needs today. Duran demanded a pause - a moment to soak in every wonderfully strange, captivating idea of his fantastical world.

SANDRA MUJINGA UNVEILS “SKIN TO SKIN” AT STEDELIJK MUSEUM

For the second time in a row, we found ourselves spending the night at the Stedelijk Museum - this time in the captivating world of artist Sandra Mujinga, for the opening of her new exhibition, Skin To Skin. “Art is a way to connect and understand the world more and more,” she shared as she welcomed the crowd. Mujinga’s multidisciplinary practice — spanning installation, sculpture, photography, performance, video, and music — investigates how we perceive and relate to bodies that are considered “other.” Through Skin To Skin, she invites us to confront the unfamiliar, explore the speculative, and imagine new ways of coexisting. Drawing from science fiction, Black Studies, and posthumanism, her work challenges dominant narratives and opens portals into alternate realities. The museum’s lower-level exhibition space transformed into a sensory field where light, shadow, and sound merged. A disorienting and beautiful space that left us asking: “Where are we?”

But far be it from us to spoil the experience; you’ll have to see it for yourself. Skin To Skin is open at the Stedelijk Museum from September 13, 2025, through January 11, 2026.
