LEVI’S IS TRANSFORMING WORKWEAR INTO A LIVING CANVAS
words by ANOUK WOUDT
With the launch of the Levi’s SS26 Workwear collection, craftsmanship is championed with classic workwear silhouettes and styles that expand on their all-Americana legacy. Blue jeans once represented the everyday hardworking man, and this collection serves as a reminder of those classic Levi-Strauss roots. In celebration of this new chapter, the brand hosted an open atelier event at its Amsterdam headquarters. In collaboration with artist GOGO LUPIN, guests entered into his signature pink universe that enveloped the room in a cotton candy explosion. Offering work shirt customisations and painting supplies, the event allowed you to embrace your inner creativity by transforming utility into art— defining Levi’s workwear as a living, breathing canvas.
Walking into the Gogo Lupin X Levi’s event, you feel as if you have just put on your rose-tinted glasses, both literally and figuratively. Amid the sea of pink, you’re greeted with an exclusive look at the Levi’s SS26 collection surrounded by a tapestry of original Gogo Lupin paintings. Amsterdam-based and Paris-raised, his style is rooted in an abstract whimsy, trademarked by his exclusive use of shades of pink. His use of monochrome allows his work to express itself outside of colour juxtapositions, while maintaining a bright vivacity.
As you make your way around the space, you are greeted with shirt customisation and painting stations that keep your creative side booked and busy. The event's innate interactivity feels especially reflective of the collection by directly tying consumers to the product's creation, in true workwear fashion.
The collection itself has a very classic appeal, carrying everyday staples that feel wearable, yet durable. Carpenter jeans, baggy overalls, trucker jackets, and button-up workwear shirts come together to create an effortlessly timeless collection. Clean lines and solid colours make for tailored silhouettes that maintain an air of casual cool. Workwear graphic t-shirts feature a vintage take on the classic Levi’s logo with Western-inspired prints adorning the back, creating a collage that reflects the brand’s San Francisco heritage and legacy.
