SS27 FASHION WEEK COLLABS WE CAN’T WAIT FOR

words by TIANA DE HASETH

Fashion loves an unexpected pairing, and the Spring Summer 2027 proved once again just how fun and important collaborations can be. From flip-flops to theatre and musicians working in the designer’s studio, this season’s most interesting collaborations have been all about bringing the intersection of creativity and culture together.

We all want to feel comfortable during the Spring Summer season, and MM6 Maison Margiela has found a way to make it fashionable by collaborating with Havaianas for the Spring/Summer 27 collection. Taking the flip-flop from the beach to a runway, the collaboration gives a daily comfort footwear an unconventional twist. With MM6’s experimental approach to design meeting Havaianas’ laid-back Brazilian heritage, comfort has never looked quite so fashion-forward. Who knew your summer shoe rotation could get a Margiela makeover?

MIU MIU X WRANGLER

Miu Miu has become one of the greats of upcycling by partnering with the American heritage denim brand Wrangler to rework vintage denim pieces for its Spring/Summer 2027 collection. This collaboration brings a sense of Western rebellion into Miu Miu while preserving the house’s core femininity, showing how these contrasting essences can be added together and still make a chic wardrobe.

MATIÈRES FÉCALES X CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN

“This one is for the 99%,” said Steven Raj Bhaskaran after the show, and we sure hope that everyone can get their hands (or feet) on these! Matières Fécales’ provocative spirit met Christian Louboutin’s sensual luxury on the Spring/Summer 2027 runway, and the result was a pair of heels we can’t stop thinking about. The two brands have collaborated before, but this season’s flip-flop heels brought a particularly provocative twist, and the perfect statement shoe for the hot season.

KSENIAS CHNAIDER’s kept its ongoing collaboration with Lee Cooper for the Spring/Summer 2027 collection, showcasing six looks that fit the season. Softer denim fabrics and floral prints were used to be reworked into pockets and workwear inspired silhouettes that added a romantic essence to the wardrobe.

Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood launched a beautiful collaboration with the Body & Soul charity for the Spring/Summer 2027 collection. The collaboration aimed to revolutionise suicide prevention by using fashion as a medium to promote social change. Featuring the phrase "Open to All" across the centre, the limited-edition T-shirt raises funds for the charity, showing that fashion can also stand for something radical.

Surprise! Eckhaus Latta and J.Crew have collaborated on a new collection for Spring/Summer 2027. They digged deep into J. Crew’s 90s archival American sportswear, blending it with Eckhaus Latta's signature colours, silhouettes and textures. They kept this partnership a secret until the reveal, when a sudden shower of confetti turned the launch into a celebration of this new creative duo.

Ethel Cain came together with the creative director Stefano Gallici and the design team of Ann Demeulemeester, with her original drawings and visuals to design the Spring/Summer 2027 collection. Her artwork and graphic language was inspired by her album Perverts, with themes of existential dread, repetition, and the dark dimensions of human experience, that the house translated into the collection.

GREEDILOUS X ADIDAS

Greedilous and Adidas collabed for Seoul Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2027, bringing sportswear into an avant-garde, technology-inspired collection. The runway did not only feature models walking, but also a robot wearing a graphic T-shirt that says, “Deep in space, Planet G-78 was a world teeming with extraordinary plant life”. The collection blended fashion, robotics, and innovation together with Greedilous’ signature bold prints, athletic silhouettes and Adidas’ logo stripes.
