ZEGNA’S SUMMER 2027 COLLECTION ‘LA VILLEGIATURA’ FEELS LIKE HOLIDAY NOSTALGIA

With models walking down the pier like passengers about to board a ferry to some idyllic island, ZEGNA’s Summer 2027 show sets its intentions crystal clear. Presented on the Malibu Pier, a California staple and a summer season classic, the new ZEGNA collection by Alessandro Sartori, La Villeggiatura, arrives with a ring to it, an inflexion. Perhaps already in the name, a nostalgic way of saying "holiday" in Italian that specifically encapsulates the act of being there, staying, resting, lingering. This is what the collection wants to focus on, that Italian art of doing summer right, with effortless elegance, relocating life and its rituals somewhere else for just a season.

On the runway, dress shirts and blouses, left mostly open, were layered with a structured blazer and looser jackets and coats, paired with shorts on the bottom to balance the weight of the top layers. The fluid silhouettes maintained a structured and refined look throughout, showcasing the Maison’s renowned textile expertise.
The collection feels profoundly tactile, with Oasi Lino, raw silks, washed hemp, nappa leather, striped seersucker, and French velvet creating a delicious mix of fabrics that feel innovative yet grounded and organic. The collection’s defining motif, stripes, was everywhere, both as visual design and as intrinsic to the fabric itself, heightening verticality and creating a playful dimension within the more polished looks.
But what truly brought the summer holiday fantasy together is the use of colour, with a plethora of warm brown, orange, and yellow hues dominating the palette, as if the clothes were already emanating golden skies and beach sunsets. Elsewhere, cream, off-white, a pop of black here and there, and vibrant blues and greens brushing on the accessories worked to tie everything together organically.
For ZEGNA, Summer 20207, is about slowing down, gathering your thoughts, your cares, and what you love most, putting them in a large colourful bag and making your way to a dreamy Italian holiday villa — and we agree.
