IN CONVERSATION WITH EMMA B

Interview by Samo Šajn

Emma B is a rising force in underground electronic music, known for her dynamic sets and genre-blending productions. After releases on STORIES and Shall Not Fade, she’s launching her own label, Notte Eterna, with the single "Eyes On Me". Based in Paris, she also runs the club night Sacré and vintage fashion store OLDĒ, blending music, style, and culture into one creative vision.

Your new track ‘Eyes On Me’ is the first release on your label. What inspired the track, and what do you want people to feel when they hear it?

"Eyes On Me" was inspired by the joyful, radiant energy of summer nights, like those in Ibiza. I want listeners to feel that soft, vibrant euphoria, which also embodies the spirit of my label, Notte Eterna – a celebration of the magic of the eternal night.

You’ve worked with labels like STORIES and Shall Not Fade, but now you’re starting your own. Why did you decide to create Notte Eterna?

Creating Notte Eterna was the natural next step: a complete project reflecting my identity in every aspect. It's a space for my expression, my music, and for spotlighting other artists with a similar sensibility, fostering free and honest creativity.

Your music blends a lot of styles. How do you decide what kind of sound to go with when you're making a track?

I thrive on creative freedom, following my instincts and current mood in the studio. I love exploring different styles to shape a track that feels authentically me. It really depends on my mood and what inspires me at that moment – there are no strict rules.

You said Notte Eterna is more than music, it’s a whole universe. What else are you including to bring that world to life?

Notte Eterna is a 360° vision beyond music, encompassing hybrid events blending club culture, fashion, and contemporary creation. This includes brand collaborations, fashion events, live sessions, and workshops, all with a conscious, eco-responsible approach, uniting my music and fashion worlds.

You grew up in the rave scene in the South of France. What do you remember most from those days, and how does it show up in your music now?

I remember the raw, free energy and surprising kindness of the South of France rave scene, a contrast to commercial clubs. The darker sounds of tekno and psytrance I loved then are now re-emerging, blended with my current minimal style and a reconnection with 90s energy.

You also run OLDĒ, a vintage fashion store. How does fashion inspire your music, or the other way around?

Fashion has always been central to me, leading to OLDĒ. Now, I connect these worlds by wearing my pieces DJing and creating sound design for my brand videos. It's about building a cohesive 360° creative universe where music, fashion, and visuals resonate.

You care a lot about sustainability. How do you keep that in mind while working in the club and fashion scenes?

It's challenging, but I prioritize sustainability by promoting vintage through OLDĒ, borrowing press pieces, and choosing trains over planes. My rider also has a "zero plastic" policy. I believe artists should advocate for important values like ecology.

Now that Notte Eterna is launching, what’s next? Any events, releases, or collabs you’re excited about?

I'm excited about Notte Eterna's launch party in Paris on April 25th. Before more label releases, I have a collaborative EP with ILyes on Shall Not Fade with remixes I admire. I'm also focused on refining my sound, exploring collaborations, and have a busy summer of gigs, including my Ibiza debut and Fusion Festival.
