IN CONVERSATION WITH JASON CHUCKS
interview by FIONA FROMMELT
Jason Chucks has worked with brands such as Versace, Armani, Prada, Ferragamo, and more. He grew up looking up to Kate Moss, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell, each of them shaping his understanding of what it is to work in the industry and be unapologetically yourself while doing what you love.

Jason, how did you get into modelling, and what was your first model experience?
I know this sounds cliche, but I got scouted during my last year of high school in Cremona, Italy, where I studied human sciences. I would take the train every morning from Milan to Cremona until a modelling agent stopped me and gave me his card. I talked to my mum about it. She told me to finish my studies first, and as soon as I did, I contacted them. That same season, I booked a showroom and a lookbook for Ralph Lauren.
You just modelled the Ferragamo X Mazarine campaign. How did that shoot differ from your first one?
Compared to my first experience, I felt much more confident and aware of how to move in front of the camera. Early on, I was nervous and unsure about posing or engaging with the team, but this recent job reminded me how far I’ve come. I’m more comfortable now in expressing creativity while also adapting to the client’s vision. It’s definitely been a journey of growth.
Time goes by so quickly, and you have gathered so many experiences since then. What is your favorite memory or aspect from your career?
It’s true, time really does fly! One of my favourite memories was shooting an editorial for Versace Jeans Couture for the first time. The energy backstage, the artistry of the collection, and just knowing I was part of something iconic stayed with me. But beyond the big moments, what I value most are the connections I’ve made. Working with creatives from all over the world, learning from each shoot or show, and growing both professionally and personally. That mix of artistry, collaboration, and constant evolution is what I love most about this job and career.

What are some of your milestones that you still want to achieve?
I am manifesting to be on a Versace and Armani runway, before saying goodbye to the modelling industry, and I would love to do another major campaign.
Do you have plans to stop? What are your plans after modelling?
Modeling has been an incredible journey over the past 3 years, and while I’m still enjoying it, I do think about what’s next. I studied marketing and communication, which has given me a strong foundation for future opportunities. Beyond that, I have a huge passion for interior design. It’s something I’ve always been drawn to creatively. So while I’m not planning to stop modeling just yet, I’m definitely exploring how to blend my background and passions into the next chapter of my career.
You say about yourself that you are a shy person. In an industry where you meet new people constantly, how do you deal with that? What are some of the techniques you developed to cope with this? Have you developed strategies to manage it?
Yes, I’ve always been a bit shy by nature, which can be a challenge in such a fast-paced industry. In the beginning, it was definitely intimidating, but over time, I’ve found small ways to navigate it. I try to ground myself by focusing on the work and reminding myself that everyone’s there to create something together. I’ve also learned that a sincere smile goes a long way; it helps break the ice and creates a more relaxed space. I still have shy moments, but I’ve come to embrace them as part of who I am, and surprisingly, that honesty often opens up deeper connections with people.

Besides being on the more introverted side, are there other ways that show you are a true Aquarius?
Definitely! Aside from being introverted at times, my Aquarian side shows in how independent and curious I am. I love exploring new ideas, pushing boundaries creatively, and I see the world a little differently, which helps in modelling, too, where expression and perspective matter. I also have that classic Aquarius streak of being a bit unpredictable; one day I’m super social, the next I just need time to recharge and reflect. But overall, I think being an Aquarius helps me stay open-minded and true to myself, even in an industry that is constantly shifting.
Do you believe in role models? Who was your model idol growing up?
Growing up, I always looked up to Kate Moss, Christy Turlington and Naomi. Even tho they are women, I just loved everything they touched and did in their modelling careers back in the 90s.
Fast forward to today: a model’s Instagram is almost as important as their portfolio. Yours is private, which, don’t get me wrong, I love a bit of mystery. What is the reason behind this decision?
I appreciate that! Keeping my Instagram private is a personal choice; it allows me to maintain a sense of balance and protect a part of myself in an industry that’s so public. I love the idea of mystery and letting the work speak for itself, rather than feeling pressured to share constantly. It also helps me stay grounded and present in real life. That said, I still value connection and creativity, I just prefer to share them in more intentional ways, both online and offline. At the end of the day, being happy in real life is all that matters to me.

And beyond being private, it’s also very beautifully curated. Would you say that sense of curation extends to other areas of your life?
Honestly, yes. I treat life a bit like a mood board. Whether it’s what I wear, how I decorate, or even the playlists I make, I love putting things together in a way that tells a story. It’s part instinct, part aesthetic obsession. I just like things to feel right, even if they’re a little unexpected.
You love to travel and immerse yourself in the arts. Are there things you always love to do when visiting new countries? Is there a souvenir you end up taking every time, or something specific you do?
Travelling always feels like a little adventure for my soul. I love wandering through museums and galleries; they feel like windows into the heart of a place. As for souvenirs, I don’t go for the typical things; I like something handmade or unique. These souvenirs serve as a tiny reminder that I was really there, experiencing the magic.
Who’s one artist that has influenced your way of living? What about their work or philosophy speaks to you?
Leonardo da Vinci has always fascinated me not just for his art, but for the way he lived. He was endlessly curious, constantly observing, questioning, and blending art with science, nature, and invention. That spirit of exploration really inspires me.
And how does that inspiration show up in your day-to-day life?
It reminds me to stay open, never to stop learning, and to see beauty in both the detail and the bigger picture. His ability to merge creativity with intellect is something I try to carry into my own life, whether I’m working, travelling, or just thinking about the world.
