IN CONVERSATION WITH LMNT 115
Interview by Samo Šajn
LMNT 115 are a mysterious duo blending emotional dance music with a futuristic, animated world inspired by cyberpunk and anime. Since launching the project in late 2024, they have quickly built momentum through a series of standout releases and major collaborations. Their latest single Paradise leads into their debut EP Isotope and marks an important step in their journey.
What was it about “Paradise” that made you feel it should be the focus track of Isotope?
“Paradise” was just one of those tracks that felt special from the moment we started working on it. When Daya came on board, it just confirmed what we already felt. Sonically, it also feels full circle from “Close to You”. It has some edge to it, but it still has juicy hooks. Plus, we have had such an incredible reaction since it has been out, so we know we made the right choice.
How would you describe “Paradise” to someone hearing it for the first time?
A digital fever dream.
Can you walk us through the moment the idea for “Paradise” first came together?
This song started as a guitar driven idea, but developed into what you hear today. We just started riffing on a guitar and lyrics fell out. “Will I ever get closer to you.” It is a song about having a magnetic connection with someone but never being able to get close enough. As the demo progressed, we really wanted to paint a picture of someone trapped in a digital world, trying to break through for human connection.
What made Daya the right collaborator for “Paradise,” and how did her voice influence the final direction of the track?
Daya has such a signature tone. We instantly knew she was going to add something special to the song, and she did. Her voice adds this extra layer of nonchalant, cool girl mystery, and we love that.
What details in the production are you most proud of or feel best represent your sound?
The saw synths create the moody darkness that we love.
Your music often ties into a larger world inspired by anime, futurism, and cyberpunk. How does “Paradise” fit into that creative universe?
All of our songs have dual meanings. If you do not know us, you could hear a simple love song. But if you do know us, there is always a hidden storyline you will pick up on that connects futurism, adversity, and fighting for the underdog. We like to think of our songs like movies, each one having its own world that lives within our universe.
LMNT 115 is built around secret identities and animated personas. How does working behind characters influence your creative choices?
The main reason we work behind characters is to let the music speak for itself. As we have developed this project, we have realized it also gives us much more creative control in showing the audience how we perceive each song, not only sonically, but aesthetically. When we are making music, we do not get stuck creatively, because however a song looks visually in our heads, we can take it there through illustrations and video clips.
As you prepare to release Isotope, what do you hope listeners learn about LMNT 115 during this next phase?
In the literal sense, in true artist fashion, we are still tweaking and working on things until the last moment to make sure it is perfect. But overall, we are very prepared. It has been a long time coming, and it was important for us to cement a full body of work as our first chapter. We hope listeners look at our music and try to find the dual meaning behind each song. We want them to get creative and imagine their own cyberpunk storyline for each track. That would make us smile.
