Lucía de la Fuente has spent most of her life in front of the camera, evolving from a child actress into one of Spain’s most promising young performers. With an impressive career spanning film and television, she’s worked with some of the country’s most acclaimed directors while continuing to take on diverse and challenging roles. This summer, she stars in Netflix’s highly anticipated series Toda la verdad sobre mis mentiras, based on the bestselling novel by Elisabeth Benavent, marking another exciting milestone in her career.

You’ve been acting since you were very young. What first made you fall in love with performing?

I always say that my personality is a mix of every character I’ve played so far. I think what made me fall in love with acting the most is the chance to live so many different lives and experience things I might never have experienced otherwise. But above all, it’s the opportunity to connect with people through emotion.

Looking back, how do you think growing up on film and TV sets has shaped you as both an actress and a person?

It’s made me grow up very quickly, and above all, it’s taught me so much just by watching the incredible professionals I’ve had the chance to work with. I’ve been incredibly lucky to grow up in this industry surrounded by people who are immensely talented and whom I truly admire. I also think it’s made me a much more empathetic person and given me the ability to adapt easily to all kinds of different situations.

Toda la verdad sobre mis mentiras is one of Netflix’s biggest releases this year. What drew you to this project?

What I loved most was the honesty and naturalness with which all the relationships are portrayed. It’s also such a fun story. And of course, becoming part of Elisabet Benavent’s world and working alongside such an incredible cast was a real gift.

Without giving away spoilers, what can audiences expect from your character?

Aroa has a very strong personality. She’s bold, passionate, and completely unfiltered. She brings a really unique energy to the group. I think she’ll make audiences feel a lot of different emotions, and I’d love for them to put themselves in her shoes.

Elisabeth Benavent has an incredibly loyal fan base. Did that add any pressure while bringing the story to life?

There’s always a sense of responsibility when you’re bringing characters to life that so many people already love. But I also tried not to think about that too much so I could give an honest performance. Our directors, María Togores and Marina Pérez, together with Elisabet, gave us so much trust and creative freedom that, in the end, what mattered most was staying true to the essence of the character while trusting the process.

You’ve worked with directors like Álex de la Iglesia, Eduardo Casanova, and David Galán Galindo. What have you learned from collaborating with such different creative voices?

I’ve learned that every director has their own unique way of telling stories. Being able to adapt to those different approaches and find a shared creative language is a real privilege as an actress. I love observing the people I work with because I never want to stop learning or being surprised.

You move comfortably between comedy, drama, and fantasy. Is there a genre you haven’t explored yet that you’d love to tackle?

I’d absolutely love to do horror. It’s something I’ve been wanting to explore for a long time, and honestly, I think I’d be really good at it.

Having started so young, how do you keep your work feeling fresh and exciting?

There’s always something new to discover. That feeling of constantly learning and continuing to surprise myself is what keeps my passion for acting alive. I genuinely love what I do.

What do you look for when deciding whether to say yes to a new project?

I want to feel that I can bring something meaningful to the character and that the role will help me grow as an actress. Above all, the story has to move me in some way.

Outside of acting, what helps you disconnect and recharge?

I love spending time with my friends, travelling whenever I can, and being with my little dog, Audrey. I also have to admit I’m obsessed with arts and crafts. Whenever I have some free time, I suddenly find myself painting, making artwork, or creating something with my hands. I’m not very good at sitting still. But I think it’s really important to switch off so I can come back to work feeling refreshed and full of energy.

If audiences could take away one thing after watching Toda la verdad sobre mis mentiras, what would you hope it is?

I hope people simply have a great time watching it, enjoy the journey, and come away wanting to travel and spend time with their friends. I also hope it reminds them of the importance of communication and of taking care of the people we love. We often assume others know how we feel, but the series shows that the truths we leave unsaid can have consequences too.

Looking ahead, what kinds of stories are you most excited to tell next?

My goal is to keep learning and finding something new to discover with every project. I’m especially drawn to complex characters, people full of contradictions who have a real journey to go on. I want to tell stories that allow me to explore different sides of myself as an actress while also moving audiences.
