IN CONVERSATION WITH MICAH AND SARAH WALLACE
interview by JANA LETONJA
Micah and Sarah Wallace have built more than a digital following, they’ve created a space where humor, love, and everyday life intersect in a way that feels both uplifting and deeply relatable. With over 4.5 million followers across platforms, the Brooklyn-based couple has become known for their joyful, family-centered content that blends comedy, music, and authentic glimpses into marriage and parenting. From viral skits and spontaneous duets to heartfelt moments with their son, their work reflects a genuine connection that resonates across generations. As performers turned full-time creators and entrepreneurs, Micah and Sarah continue to expand their creative world, proving that meaningful storytelling, when rooted in love and authenticity, can truly build a community.
Do you remember the moment you realized content creation could become a full-time career?
When our first video went viral and companies started reaching out to us to monetize it, the wheels started turning about how if we were consistent with posting it could potentially become an income stream. It was after we got our first brand deal that we began to understand how it could become a full-time career.
How did your backgrounds in theatre shape the way you approach content today?
I think it gave us a foundation for being comfortable on camera. It also allows us to tap into all those different elements of theatre - acting, singing, dancing - when we are coming up with content. We have a home that is filled with music and dance all the time because of those backgrounds, so a lot of what we film is what we would be doing anyway.
What’s your creative process like when coming up with new ideas or skits?
It varies. For skit-based videos, the idea usually comes from a real life interaction or experience. Then we figure out how to kind of heighten it, and shoot it in the way that will be most entertaining. We also draw inspiration from content we see. If we see a concept that we relate to and think is funny, we will do our own take on it.
The ‘Micah impersonates Sarah’ series is a fan favorite. How did that idea come about?
From Micah sweetly making fun of me in our day to day life. I always laugh at Micah impersonating me, because it’s so over the top in the best way. And with how much I love to clean and how particular I am with certain things, the jokes are endless.
How do you balance humor with authenticity, especially when sharing personal moments?
What people see on our social media is who we are in our day to day life. We love to laugh and have fun. Fun is actually one of our family’s core values that we have up on our wall. Life can be so serious, and of course there are times when fun is not our main priority, but on a day-to-day basis laughing and being goofy together is something special for us, and we hope that’s what comes through in our content.
We’ve also been through a handful of difficult seasons both as individuals and as a couple, but got to the other side of those valleys because of our faith in God, first and foremost, but also because of the intention to find the joy and the laughter through the difficulties. Our goal is that our content can help people do that if they are in a hard season.
Parenting is a big part of your content. How has becoming parents influenced your storytelling?
We hope it’s made us even more relatable to a new demographic of people. There is so much comedy gold in parenting and our son is only a year and a half. We can’t even imagine the situations we have yet to be inspired by as parents.
How do you decide what parts of your family life to share and what to keep private?
We pray daily for God to guide us and give us wisdom when it comes to content creation and our family, so it’s really a gut thing. We also aren’t black and white with our thought process. What we are willing to share now may change in the future and we are okay with that. It’s about what makes sense for our family in our current season of life.
What have you learned about maintaining a strong relationship while working together creatively?
We talk so much about our future and the vision we have for our marriage, our family, and our business. Those vision casting conversations really bond us. We also enjoy spending time with our son together. There is also something fun and exhilarating about brainstorming and creating together. As our life has expanded, what we look at as “quality time” is always ebbing and flowing. Of course, we need specific date time for just the two of us, but finding those small daily moments in our time with Shelton as well as our time working together keeps us connected.
Social media moves fast. How do you stay creatively inspired without burning out?
It’s hard. We have definitely gone through seasons of burn out. Trying to come up with something new, unique, funny, and entertaining every single day can be challenging because you sometimes feel like you’ve done everything. Our solution is usually to switch something up, whether it’s doing something different and fun as a family, or maybe one of us needs some alone time to just shut off and refresh, or hanging with friends. We just try to change our scenery so our inspiration can be renewed.
Looking ahead, what kind of stories or projects are you most excited to explore next?
When it comes to stories, we’d say the ever expanding story of parenthood. As Shelton gets older and as we hopefully grow our family, there will be new experiences and learnings that will inspire us. Also travel, we love travel. Getting to see new places and experience new things with our family is the spice of life for us, and creating content around that is so much fun.
When it comes to projects, we have a few things in the works right now, a jewelry line in collaboration with one of our favorite brands, building our own brand from the ground up, and Micah just started pursuing traditional TV/film acting, which has always been a dream of his.
Sarah has a blog where she writes on growth, faith, overcoming, sharing things she’s been through, struggled with and how she progressed through them in the hopes that it can help someone out there feel less alone. She would love to take these stories and expand on them to create some kind of anthology or devotional book that could be of benefit to other women.
Together we are really in a season of wanting to form the right long-term relationships with a handful of brands that we love and are loyal to. Having equity in companies that we believe in and helping them continue to have impact and grow is really exciting to us.
