‘Bridgerton’ fans were instantly captivated by your portrayal of Lord John Stirling. How does it feel to return for Season 4?
It’s always the best feeling coming back to the ton. The familiar faces, the new faces. Such joy.
Without giving too much away, what can we expect from John and Francesca’s journey this season?
It’s so hard not to touch on points without giving anything away, but we can expect some more progression in Francesca and John’s marriage and all they figure out together. In short, we can expect the unexpected.

Your chemistry with Hannah Dodd became one of the highlights of Season 3. How did you build that connection both on and off set?
We joined at the same time and we became friends really quickly being the new kids on the block. So, we had each other to lean on. Hannah is an incredible actress and it’s always so easy to work together.
‘Bridgerton’ has such an enormous global following. How has that level of fan enthusiasm impacted you personally and professionally?
I’ve never been in a show of this size before, and I think it’s amazing to know that people love the show. It makes it even more enjoyable making it. They know so much about the books and the details. They’re truly incredible and it makes us all want to do a great job for them. I hope we’ve done just that.
This upcoming season is rumoured to be your final one. What has the experience of being part of the Bridgerton family meant to you?
Words can’t quite encapsulate what it’s meant to be on this wonderful show. I’ve met people who I’ll be friends with for a long time and I’m so thankful to have been a part of it. I’ll miss them all greatly.

You’ve also just wrapped Gareth Evans’ ‘A Colt Is My Passport’. What drew you to that project?
Yes, we have. It’s so different to anything I’ve done. It’s an action movie, plus it’s Gareth Evans. There wasn’t much thought to it other than to say ‘Yes!’
The film reimagines a classic Yakuza thriller through a 1970s Detroit lens. How would you describe the tone and atmosphere of this new version?
It’s gritty, it’s very dark, but it’s also realistic. There's an intense suspense and paranoia with the characters. But it’s also creative through the bleak subject matter. That’s about all I can say for now.
You received huge praise for your stage performance in ‘The Glass Menagerie’ opposite Amy Adams. What did that experience teach you about your craft?
Four words, theatre is the foundation. I went to drama school and the training I got there was a predominantly theatre-based. And I truly believe that theatre allows an actor to discover their capabilities. It also allowed me to be super versatile on screen. I learnt that I can do anything. Then along came ‘Bridgerton’.
As a British actor of Nigerian heritage, do you feel the industry has evolved in terms of the roles and stories being told today?
I think it has and it’s definitely got a way to go, but there’s progress being made and hopefully that progress allows creatives in front and behind the camera to be given the opportunity to take risks and show what they’re capable of doing.
How do you stay creatively fulfilled and grounded in between such high-profile projects?
I’m a musician. I don’t talk about it a lot, but I play quite a few instruments and I love it. The freedom and joy it brings is beyond satisfying. And I’ve got incredible friends and family who I love to surround myself with. They definitely keep me all the way close to the ground.
