IN CONVERSATION WITH VICTORIA

Interview by Samo Šajn

Victoria is quickly becoming a standout name in electronic music, known for her high-energy sets and bold mix of funk, techno, and hard dance. On Sunday, July 13th, she’ll perform solo at Lofi’s Courtyard, playing alongside Patrick Mason, Daria Kolosova, Cybersex and angelboy. We spoke to her about the upcoming show, her latest track Daddy, and what’s inspiring her right now.

You’ve played in Amsterdam before, but this is your first time performing a solo set at LoFi. How does it feel to bring your own sound back to the city?

I’m really excited. I played in Amsterdam last year at ADE, and it was such an amazing experience. The energy here is always great. Amsterdam is such an important city for club culture, and there are so many amazing parties. I’ve got high expectations for this one.

You’ll be playing alongside Patrick Mason, Daria Kolosova, Cybersex, and angelboy. What makes this lineup special to you, and how do you think you fit into it?

I think it’s really cool because each of us has our own individual sound. It’s slightly different, but we share a similar energy. We match each other’s vibe, but still bring our own thing. I think it’s going to be a fun and interesting night, especially for people who want to hear something a little different.

Can fans expect to hear your new track Daddy in Amsterdam?

Of course. I usually don’t plan my sets too much. I like to feel it out in the moment depending on who’s playing before me and how the vibe is. But I’m pretty sure I’ll be playing Daddy. It’s a great track for the club.

Your music blends baile funk, techno, hard dance, and more. How do you get ready to bring that mix to a live crowd?

I do a lot of digging and research. I love mixing genres. Sometimes I’ll have a straight techno beat underneath with a baile funk vocal on top, then switch into a big Jersey club moment. I like to experiment and have sudden mood changes to keep the set fun and unpredictable.

Do you ever fully plan your sets, or is it all based on the crowd and vibe?

Sometimes I’ll plan the first few tracks to have a solid start, but after that I just go by heart and feel out the room. I also make different playlists depending on the event. If I know I’m playing at a harder techno festival, I’ll prep a playlist for that. But I never plan the exact order of the whole set.

You’ve played all over the world. How do the crowds compare in different places?

Every city has its own sound that they connect to most. I’ve loved playing in South America, especially because of my Latin club music influence. People there really vibe with it. In places like Berlin and Amsterdam, the crowd might lean more toward straight techno. But honestly, it depends on the people and the party. I love when crowds are open-minded and ready for something different. That’s the best kind of energy.

If you could collaborate with any artist right now, who would it be?

Right now I really love Tuka and Kalusuga. They’re amazing. I’m really into that Latin rap vocal style, so I’d love to do something with them on a beat.

Do you have any pre-show rituals?

It depends. If I’m in a party mood, I’ll take a shot. If I’m in grandma mode, I’ll take a nap. It’s all about the vibe of the day.

If you had to describe your Amsterdam set in three words, what would they be?

Hot, fun, and full of hard energy.

You were named a Spotify EQUAL Global Ambassador. What does that role mean to you as a woman in electronic music?

Representation is really important, especially for women in music. There’s still a lot of misogyny out there. People make assumptions, judge women just for existing, or say we’re only there to look good. But the new underground scene is starting to give space for real freedom and authenticity. I’m really proud to have been part of the Spotify EQUAL campaign. I don’t feel like I have to carry the weight of that responsibility, but I do try to live by what I believe in. Freedom to be yourself and not care about the noise.

Are there any female artists you look up to?

So many. I love VTSS. What she’s doing is amazing. Shygirl, CEM, DJ Gigola. There are a lot of women out there killing it. I’m actually playing with VTSS this summer at We Can Dance in Belgium and I’m so excited.

Finally, 2025 is heating up for you. Can you share what’s next? New music, collabs, anything fans should look out for?

I’m working on a lot of new music and have a bunch of tracks in progress. I can’t say too much just yet, but there’s definitely good stuff coming.
