BOTTEGA VENETA PRESENTS “CRAFT IS OUR LANGUAGE”

Photographed by Jack Davison and choreographed by Lenio Kaklea Bottega Veneta launches its new campaign, inspired by the 50th anniversary of the house’s iconic leather weave, Intrecciato.

In Italian "intrecciato" means woven or braided and without a doubt, the word is now infinitely intertwined with the house's fashion history. For the "Craft is our Language" the word itself is a metaphor, symbolizing interconnectedness, exchange and delicate connections.

Without a doubt, these exchanges are further established by the iconic artists, filmmakers, writers and fashion makers who joined the house's campaign. To mention some of the most influential people singer-songwriter and record producer Jack Antonoff, director Dario Argento, designer Edward Buchanan, actor Julianne Moore, tennis player Lorenzo Musetti, actress Shu Qi, or the writer Zadie Smith.

There is another unique reference to the house's Italian roots, there is a homage to Milanese artist and designer Bruno Munari and his classic 1963 handbook of Italian gestures, Supplemento al Dizionario Italiano (Supplement to the Italian dictionary). Today published by Corraini, the book is a tribute to expressions of the hands and body, many of which moved beyond their Neapolitan origins to become part of Italian heritage. The campaign will also include a book, which will represent the 50 gestures that constitute a “dictionary” of the language, the craft, and the values of Bottega Veneta.
