JÉRÔME DREYFUSS FALL/WINTER 2025: INSPIRED BY THE CHOLITAS ESCALADORAS
words NATALIE GAL
For the next season, Jérôme Dreyfuss focuses on their core values: functional, statement pieces. This year, they draw inspiration from the Cholitas Escaladoras, women who live high in the Bolivian mountains. The result is a refined collection in majestic, natural, lustrous colours, blending timeless favourites with fresh new designs.
The Cholitas Escaladoras are a group of indigenous women who inhabit the highest peaks of Latin America. Be not mistaken, they are not known for high-tech mountaineering gear, but for their vibrant, handcrafted scarves and hats, and most notably their polleras, embroidered skirts rich in tradition.
Beyond their striking style, these remarkable women made history by climbing Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the Americas, becoming the first Aymara women to do so. They have also climbed Aconcagua (6,968 meters) in Mendoza, Argentina, the highest summit in the Western Hemisphere, an achievement documented in the film Cholitas, which premiered in Spain.
They always climb in their traditional skirts and scarves, and I feel it’s such a powerful reminder that for them, it’s not just a recreational sport, but a celebration of their rich and ancient heritage. They have previously been featured in Vogue México, but it feels time more people know who they are — because they are, simply, spectacular.

Inspired by them, this winter Jérôme Dreyfuss channels the colours of the Andes: deep mocha, glossy hazelnut, and a rich opium-toned crocodile print. Summer hues like orchid add contrast, while beloved classics return in favourites such as caramel suede, ecru-grained goatskin, and natural leopard print.
The well-known icons, Bobi, Lulu, Billy, and of course Pépito, make a welcome return. Luis also appears with its classic, effortless silhouette. New this season is Gordi, a drawstring bag available in sizes S and M, designed as an ode to feminine elegance.
This whole collection is a thoughtful tribute that invites us to reflect on these extraordinary women, women we can’t help but admire. We can’t wait to see more of their stories translated to the runway and into wardrobes this winter!
