words by NATALIE GAL
Neopop returns to the stunning Viana do Castelo from August 7-9, marking the 18th edition of the festival. This year's electrifying theme is "Interplanetary Dance Music"!
Expect an immersive experience with "Interplanetary Dance Music," a visual and aesthetic concept developed by Studio Bruto in collaboration with Serafim Mendes, Fernão Gonçalves, and Dust Devices. The festival will feature 3D systems, experimental sounds, and an intense, cutting-edge soundscape. The northern Portuguese city of Viana do Castelo provides a special backdrop, rich in history and culture, set by the grand Lima river, with stunning views, numerous restaurants, bars, and a beautiful beach perfect for relaxation.
The lineup boasts icons of the current electronic music scene, including Daria Kolosova b2b IMOGEN, I Hate Models, KlangKuenstler, Pan-Pot, Richie Hawtin, Rødhåd, Sama’ Abdulhadi, Sven Väth, and Vintage Culture. Jeff Mills, featured on the cover of Numéro Netherlands' most recent "Issue 12, Aurora," will also perform.
On August 7th, French DJ and producer I Hate Models will join artists such as Dresden, Nuno Dos Santos, Cosmic Force, and Aurora Halal. Expect a diverse range of electronic music, from industrial tunes meeting emotional nostalgia, to hypnotic techno and low-frequency beats, even offering a taste of Italian techno.
The following day, August 8th, KlangKuenstler will present his hypnotic groove, while the Pan-Pot duo will bring forth their sophisticated atmospheres. Vintage Culture will showcase their trademark style, blending house tunes with techno. Portuguese techno will also be strongly represented with a special set by Lewis Fautzi b2b The Advent.
The festival's final day, August 9th, promises to be the most exciting, with Jeff Mills delivering his iconic innovative tunes. Rødhåd, founder of the influential label Dystopian, will also perform. British techno, Latin funk, and Detroit techno will blend together during Héctor Oaks' set.
