ROLEX TESTIMONEES MAKE HISTORY AT ROLAND-GARROS 2025
This weekend, tennis history was made on the red clay of Paris, where Rolex Testimonees Coco Gauff and Carlos Alcaraz sensationally captured the singles titles at Roland-Garros 2025, breaking records in the process.
For the first time since 1984, this year’s Roland-Garros finals brought together the world’s No. 1 and No. 2 ranked players in both the men’s and women’s singles finals. Twenty-one-year-old Coco Gauff completed a hard-fought path to victory. She faced the challenging conditions with resilience, composure, and unwavering determination.
The significance of the moment was clear in the American’s reaction after the match. Gauff, now a two-time Grand Slam® champion, said: “I want to thank my team. You always keep pushing me. You are the reason I do this and you inspire me more than anything. I don’t know what I did to deserve so much love from the French crowd, but… merci beaucoup.”
The rivalry between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner reached record heights on Sunday, June 8, when they played their long-awaited first Grand Slam® final. They pushed each other to the limit, both physically and emotionally, elevating the sport to new heights during an epic five-set battle, all while maintaining an exceptional sense of fair play. It was the longest final in Roland-Garros history and the second-longest Grand Slam® final since the beginning of the Open Era.
During the award ceremony, Alcaraz spoke directly to Sinner: “Jannik, the level you reach is incredible. I know how hard you work towards this tournament and every other title. It’s an honor to be on the court with you and to make history together. You are an inspiration.” He then turned to the crowd and said: “This tournament is so special to me, and I can’t wait to come back year after year.”
