CASSARO’S GIVES A TASTE OF LA DOLCE VITA
words by ANOUK WOUDT
Stepping into Cassaro’s in Paris feels like a true blast to the past, placing you immediately into a scene straight out of Fellini’s La Dolce Vita. Located in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Près, it’s surrounded by a historic medieval charm through Romanesque architecture in the intellectual hub of Paris. Pristine elegance seeps through every inch of the decor and the dishes, creating an inviting atmosphere that keeps you coming back for its classic taste of Milanese delicacy.
Soft candle lighting gives way to high ceilings as you enter the main dining room, enveloped in the sweet sounds of Sinatra, softly punctuating the ambient atmosphere. Named after restaurateur Hugo Cassaro, this newest addition to his food portfolio comes from a joint imagination with Thierry Costes, who is part of the Beaumarly group that specialises in hotels, restaurants, and all things hospitality.
A signature retro elegance finds its home at Cassaro’s, defined by white tablecloths, tailored suits and rich olive-green velvet booths, lined in a dark lacquered oak. This ‘60s eleganza is only accentuated with the overhead Murano glass chandeliers and geometric Art Nouveau-inspired carpeted floors.
Italian flavours caress each portion of the menu, bringing a palette of mortadella, stracciatella, pistachio, and other Italo-classics to a seamless harmony. Pastas and pizzetas are of course on the menu, along with some more elegant dishes like ossobuco, broccolini dressed in cacio e pepe and wood-fired beef tagliata.
Finish the filling dinner with a taste of Italian-style gelato or the torta al limone if you’ve got a spot for dessert! Otherwise, their selection of signature Martinis is the perfect post-dinner digestif, with flavours that include: Vesper, Pornstar, Espresso, Pistachio, and more…
