HOTEL V OOSTERPARK: A NEW VIEW OF AMSTERDAM-EAST
editor THORE DAMWERTH
There’s this kind of stillness that only exists at the edge of a park at sunrise. At Hotel V Oosterpark, that stillness becomes the centerpiece of the stay. Opened just in September 2025, this new chapter in Amsterdam’s conscious hospitality movement feels less like checking into a hotel and more like being invited into a gentle dialogue between design, nature, and the city.

During the Amsterdam Dance Event and our own Numéro Netherlands launch party of issue 13, Hotel V offered us the perfect counterbalance. Its panorama, stretching across Amsterdam-East, captured the city’s kinetic energy from a rare place of calm. Views this open, this cinematic, are unusual in Amsterdam, and they became the unexpected highlight of our stay. The room’s industrial concrete softened by warm wood tones, moss-like textures, and organic shapes echoed the serenity outside, blending interior and landscape.
Hotel V Oosterpark’s commitment to sustainability is not a concept but a lived reality: a fully gas-free building, triple-glazed windows that lend the rooms their quietude, and Cradle-to-Cradle certified interiors that make the hotel feel both modern and mindful. The landmark 1967 structure, reimagined by Wiel Arets, presents a thoughtful balance between its iconic bones and contemporary comfort.
A subtle but memorable layer of the experience came from EtikA, the Amsterdam-based fragrance house whose products awaited us in the room. Their philosophy, translating human passions into scent, felt fitting here, as the care luxuries added a sensory richness to the experience. It’s the kind of detail that lingered long after we had left.
With 88 rooms, including seven lofts, rain showers by Grohe, and, in select rooms, freestanding bathtubs positioned for quiet moments of pause, the hotel offers a considered blend of functionality and indulgence. Steps away from museums, markets, and the cultural hum of Amsterdam-East, it remains connected yet cocooned.
Hotel V Oosterpark is ultimately a place of perspective: on design, on sustainability, and quite literally, on the city itself. And from up there, framed by park and sky, Amsterdam reveals itself anew.
