RESTAURANT TANNAY: BURGUNDY TRADITIONS IN AMSTERDAM

words NATALIE GAL

We are presenting one of the most exciting restaurants in our misty city: Tannay, set at the edge of Amsterdam’s Realeneiland. Chef Thomas Demuth, raised within the poetic beauty of Burgundy, channels that French elegance onto the plates at Tannay.

Thomas comes from a family of Burgundy winemakers, after he first honed his craft at George V in Paris, he found his way to Amsterdam through Alain Caron.  At 23, he moved to Amsterdam, a city that captured him, as it has so many of us. He stayed for love, and in 2020 took on the role of chef at De Gouden Reael, the historic establishment that would later transform into Restaurant Tannay.

Expect deep, flavor-rich sauces, light yet balanced portions, finely crafted details, and ingredients drawn from the garden. At Tannay, you can choose between a five-course chef’s menu or an à la carte selection, both rooted in French classics, yet refreshed with a modern twist and inspired by Amsterdam’s local produce.
