A NEW BEAT FOR GLOBAL DANCE MUSIC: VIRGIN RECORDS REBORN AS INTERCORD
Before the music, lights, and late nights of ADE take over, allow us to drop a little announcement. Universal Music Germany has officially relaunched Virgin Records Germany as Intercord Records marking the beginning of a bright, new chapter for one of Europe’s most enduring names in electronic music. After years of shaping the sound of global dance floors, the label found itself ready for a name that speaks to its present pulse. The shift to Intercord Records offers just that, a clear and confident identity that remains loyal to its DNA.

Of course, the name Intercord carries its own history. Founded in 1966, it helped introduce icons like Depeche Mode, Erasure, Yazoo, and Moby to German audiences. Today, that spirit continues, now expanding with a roster that includes Leony, Ray Dalton, Alle Farben, and a few new faces soon to be revealed. This transformation arrives on the heels of the label’s most successful year yet marked by chart-topping releases and international acclaim. From Mau P’s “Drugs From Amsterdam” to James Hype’s “Ferrari”, and anthems like MEDUZA’s “Piece Of Your Heart”.
Next week, the new Intercord identity takes centre stage at Amsterdam Dance Event, where the label will host its annual Intercord Mixer at Soho House with ten back-to-back sets, surprise guests, rising stars, and a first glimpse at their refreshed visual world. It’s a new name, a new chapter but the same heartbeat.
