For all the Tumblr divas who printed pictures of Cara Delevingne’s fashion choices back in 2013, glued them onto their mood boards besides styling inspos and make-up tutorials on how to be the “it” girl, and decorated them with One Direction lyrics - this one’s for you. Our girl Cara is officially entering her musician era!
After years of teasing her musical ambitions through collaborations, performances, songwriting and the occasional appearance alongside some of the biggest names in the industry, Cara is fearlessly entering into the music industry with a debut album Not Normal, after releasing the first single of it Crazy Baby last month. Earlier this year, she officially introduced this new chapter with the interconnected singles I Forgot and Out of My Head, giving listeners their first real taste of Not Normal.
“This album is a diary of the last few years of my life. All of the highs, lows, mistakes and lessons are translated into this record. Making this music has been the greatest gift. I can’t believe these songs are finally out in the world.”
Cara co-wrote and co-produced all of the tracks on the album alongside BJ Burton. Playing and writing music have always been passions of hers. She learned piano and drums, played in bands and began writing songs long before she became one of the most recognisable faces in fashion. Now, with Not Normal, those years of experimenting and writing finally have a home, showcasing her talent by intertwining strong electronic sounds paired with her delicate lyrics.
Over the years, Cara has collaborated with artists including Pharrell Williams, St. Vincent, Taylor Swift, Rita Ora and Fiona Apple. This summer, she took that next step from the studio to the stage, launching her first headline tour across Europe, the UK and the US. The run included a special appearance at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, followed by sold-out shows in Los Angeles and Brooklyn. Her festival run continues today with a special performance at All Things Go NYC.
