AMANGIRI - A SERENE ESCAPE IN THE HEART OF THE DESERT

words NIA TOPALOVA

Located in the high desert of Canyon Point in Utah, AMANGIRI is the perfect place to soak in the natural beauty surrounding you. Experiencing this resort from the AMAN hotel group, with its breathtaking views of canyons and mesas, is truly extraordinary.

The resort’s suites and tented pavilions offer spacious lounging areas with outdoor terraces or patios, private pools and stunning views of the desert. The rooms are designed to enhance your connection with nature thanks to wide windows and an open floor plan. Amangiri’s design, led by architect MARWAN AL-SAYED, is characterised by its use of local stone and earth tones, which help to integrate the property into the rugged desert surroundings. It emphasises open spaces, natural light and an organic flow between indoor and outdoor areas. The minimalist architecture blends perfectly with the natural environment.

Waking up to panoramic views of the desert landscape, rocky cliffs and wide-open skies is the perfect way to start the day. We first headed to the Aman Spa to soak in indigenous herbs and minerals, before moving into the wellness centre for a morning yoga practice and revitalising meditation. Next came a private helicopter flight to Utah’s surrounding national parks, with views of Glen Canyon, Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon. Departing directly from the resort, you have the option to stay in the air and simply admire the beauty below or venture out for a private guided tour on the ground. What makes staying at Amangiri so memorable is the infinite outdoor adventures available, from hiking and rock climbing to hot-air ballooning and boating on nearby Lake Powell.

The dining experience was one of a kind, focusing on local, seasonal and organic ingredients, with options for private dining under the stars or intimate meals in a variety of settings. The dishes were designed to highlight the rich culinary heritage of the Southwest, with starters such as cast-iron gambas, Rocky Mountain elk tartare and a desert orchard salad, followed by main dishes like saikyo yaki salmon, dry aged Duroc pork or tandoori masala native lamb.

With a deep connection to the landscapes and cultures surrounding it, Aman prioritises sustainability by using locally sourced materials and mindful formulations in their wellness offerings. According to KRISTINA ROMANOVA, life partner of Aman CEO, VLAD DORONIN: “Aman teaches you the art of presence. The way each property is designed — not just for beauty but for stillness and connection — has shaped my perspective on what true luxury is. It’s not about excess; it’s about creating an experience that nurtures the senses and the soul in simplistic forms.”

Amangiri embodies Aman’s philosophies and values centred around creating transformative experiences for their guests, with a strong emphasis on tranquillity and luxury. Aman focuses on creating a strong connection between guests and the natural world, encouraging them to explore and rejuvenate in these environments. Each guest’s needs are catered to in a way that makes them feel individually cared for, creating a truly exclusive experience. Combining serene comfort and natural beauty, Amangiri is the ideal destination for those seeking a unique escape into nature in one of the most scenic and remote parts of the United States.
