HORST FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES ITS ARTS AND ARCHITECTURE PROGRAMME FOR 2026

Horst Festival has unveiled its arts and architecture programme for 2026, returning to Asiat Park in Vilvoorde from May 14–16. Following the earlier announcement of its music lineup, the festival now reveals the artistic and spatial practices that will shape the site itself — positioning Horst once again as a collective experiment in culture-making, where architecture, performance and public space coexist.

As Horst Head of Arts Louise Goegebeur explains, the programme is built around the belief that “multiplicity isn’t noise, it’s the essential condition of public space.” In response to “homogenisation and polarisation,” Horst aims to create spaces where “multitudes are not only tolerated, but actively cared for,” treating Asiat Park as “shared infrastructure for encounter, experimentation and collective imagination.”

Among the key names is Fallon Mayanja, presented in collaboration with The Constant Now through a POC-only collective atelier, as well as French artist Paul Maheke, whose new work unfolds between installation and live performance. The festival also welcomes Queereeoké, bringing its radically inclusive karaoke format to Saturday night, alongside Brussels collectives Apolemia and Anal Pompidou. The latter will intervene in an off-limits building with what they describe as “D.I.Y. special effects… homosexual desires… chaotic energy… and you, the audience in the intimacy of the moment.”

Architecture remains central to Horst’s identity. Bureau Bas Smets will reinstall Building Biospheres, while TAKK and TEd’A arquitectes will introduce new stage structures, joined by L’ÉQUIPE architectes and Delphine Dénéréaz with interventions designed to remain beyond the festival weekend.

Applications for the Horst 2026 Atelier open February 19.
