PATRÓN EL ALTO AND ZUM BARBAROSSA CELEBRATE THE ART OF GOING OUT WELL

words by PHOEBE GIBSON-DOUGALL

Patrón El Alto and I share a few things in common: firstly, tequila is our drink of choice, and second, we don’t go out often, but when we do, we go all out. This philosophy is behind Patrón El Alto’s efforts to redefine what it means to go out in style and was a driving force behind the brand’s recent collaboration with the iconic Zum Barbarossa—an event that went beyond nightlife to celebrate a cultural shift.

Patrón El Alto, Zum Barbarossa and I are not alone; globally there’s been an increase in people re-thinking how they socialise. Gone are the days where the loudest venue or biggest event reigns supreme, now it’s all about connection, taste, and intention. It’s about doing less and doing it better. The rallying cry of this new movement is clear: Bring Back Clubbing. Chasing chaos is out, curating your night is in. This means smaller spaces, better sound, and real energy—nights built around meaning and atmosphere, not excess.

Patrón El Alto sits perfectly within that shift. Crafted from 100% hand-selected Blue Weber agave and aged for up to four years in oak barrels, it represents a modern interpretation of luxury one defined not by quantity, but by quality. A tequila that embodies craftsmanship, confidence, and the art of enjoying things well.

When Patrón El Alto and Zum Barbarossa came together, this philosophy was realised. For one night only one of Amsterdam’s most beloved cocktail bars became a luxurious, golden enclave. As Golden Hour descended over Zum Barbarossa, the space transformed. Bathed in a warm golden light, Monica Geuze made an unannounced appearance behind the decks, turning the moment into the highlight of the evening. With her effortless sense of style and energy, she captured exactly what this new era of going out feels like—spontaneous, elegant, and unforgettable.

Throughout the evening, drag performers Vanity Vickers, Poppy Alia, and OMG Abby brought their signature charisma and freedom of expression. Dressed in gold, they embodied the confidence, inclusivity, and flair that define today’s nightlife — stylish, intentional, and alive with personality. DJs Ammé, Edson Cesar, and Ruben Michael guided the flow of the evening with curated sets that carried guests from smooth introductions to late-night rhythm.

The message was clear: the culture of going out is changing. So the real question is, are you coming along for the ride?
