SAINT LAURENT’S REVAMPED MILANESE FLAGSHIP IS AN ODE TO ITALIAN HISTORY AND CRAFTSMANSHIP
words by PHOEBE GIBSON-DOUGALL
No introductions are necessary for Saint Laurent—the newest resident of Milan’s storied via Montenapoleone—but perhaps you’d like a house tour? The brand’s new Milan flagship has been expanded and transformed, remade in the image of Anthony Vaccarello’s bold store concept whilst honoring Italian craftsmanship and groundbreaking design.

The boutique’s every detail is intentional, with the aim to showcase a dialogue between memory and modernity. This blend of old and new is evident everywhere, from the floors—conceived in Ceppo di Gre, a traditional grey stone quarried in Lombardy, and Marmo di Candoglia, a white and pink marble featured on Milan’s Duomo—to the Stucco Antico finishes that reinterpret traditional Venetian plasterwork with a contemporary lens. Classical mouldings in custom-cast bronze cladding honor the palazzo’s past, while the central staircase in eucalyptus wood creates a sculptural void and connecting element.
Similarly, the carefully curated selection of art and furniture pays tribute to Italian history and design by featuring pieces dating from Antiquity to the present, including original works by masters of Italian architecture and design Gio Ponti, the Scarpa family, Osvaldo Borsani, Marco Zanuso, Aldo Tura, Gaetano Pesce, and many more. These pieces were considered carefully and sought to perfectly complement the maison’s full product offerings, including women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, accessories, and fine jewellery, all available at Saint Laurent Montenapoleone.
By carefully preserving and reinterpreting architectural details, Saint Laurent Montenapoleone embraces the unique character of the site, creating a location with a distinct sense of place and permanence. We’re sure you’ll feel right at home.
