The collection features a reimagined version of Elisabeth Báthory, portrayed by Ursula Wangander, and embodies not only clothing but a story of a bloodthirsty woman surrounded by vampiric figures. Her strong stature reflects her power amid an already-established patriarchy, reinterpreting her murderous rampage as a symbol of strength. Shadowed, clawed hands are shown grasping towards her, but her expression holds an ever-present fearlessness that is essential to the meaning of this collection.
The artistry extends beyond typical clothing materials, with ceramic hands and handheld vintage mirrors adorning a mix of billowing and structured silhouettes. The pieces reflect a departure from traditional fashion, creating works more akin to wearable sculptures, as exemplified by the Vampire Castle and Cat Mermaid works.
The collection is shot by Szilveszter Makó, whose style perfectly uplifts ABODI’s vision and creates a universe for these characters to play in. Each image creates a new persona that tugs on a different thread of the collection, showcased in a gallery of creatures.
ABODI’s style continues to cross its own boundaries, plunging deeper into the universe it created with bolder styles that swallow its wearer whole, replacing them with a piece of art. They have fully immersed themselves in a distant land rooted in playful occultism that intends to take us all spiralling down with it.
