DR. MARTENS X BEAMS REWORK THE LOWELL SHOE
words by ANOUK WOUDT
Merging the classic British silhouette with a punky Japanese flair, Dr. Martens and BEAMS reunite after six long years to deliver a reimagined version of the Lowell shoe. This collaboration comes as a celebration of BEAMS’s 50th anniversary and the grand re-opening of their Harajuku store, in an ode to the district that shaped the brand’s identity.
Embracing Doc Marten’s as an iconic emblem of non-conformity, BEAMS mix-matches panels of patent, suede, smooth and embossed leathers to create a true Frankenstein creation— the ultimate freak shoe. Though it maintains that signature classy Lowell shape, this rework injects the shoe with personality, serving as a punk’s elevated dream. Embossed with the signature ’Crazy Pattern’ style by BEAMS, the all-black shoe is the perfect look for contemporary wear, while still allowing for a unique edginess to shine through. Durable materials also insure a lifetime of wear, so you are able to strut in these shoes every single day.
Following collabs with Rick Owens and MM6, we are definitely seeing Dr. Martens continue to take a more subversive route and we are excited to see what is next for the brand. For now, you can look forward to the BEAMS collab drop on March 5th, which will have the shoe available in select stores or online.
