EXCLUSIVE LOOK AT THE SAVOIR-FAIRE BEHIND LOUIS VUITTON’S GOLDEN GLOBES 2026 GOWNS

words by VERONICA TLAPANCO SZABÓ

Awards season has officially begun with the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, and before turning our attention to the winners, the fashion demanded a moment of its own. Long before the envelopes are opened, the Golden Globes red carpet sets the tone as a stage where artists articulate who they are through sartorial means first. That statement however is never made alone. It is the result of a collective effort between designers, ateliers, and skilled hands working meticulously, to get it right down to the seams.

Last night in Los Angeles, that savoir-faire was unmistakably present in two looks that carried the grandeur of the Louis Vuitton house. Founded in 1854, the maison’s legacy was carried last night by Stacy Martin and Emily Blunt.

Emily Blunt’s white silk sleeveless gown, paired with a matching one-shoulder cropped cape, unfolds with mastery. Adorned with silver jewellery buttons that carry a sense of history. The look itself is anchored in multiple points by the savoir-faire of Louis Vuitton. The cape is a feat of serious tailoring, its structured, high-standing collar envelops her in an almost impossible chicness. Suspended above the waist, the cape is left deliberately floating, introducing a necessary airiness to the silhouette.

The asymmetric fastening guides the eye from button to button, constellation to constellation, with even her fingertips catching the light through two matching rings. Knowing that this look required approximately 360 hours of work brings immediate clarity to all the details, especially when examined up close. The three-dimensional, multi-crystal silver beadwork of the buttons is so intricate it seems to hold an entire universe within its detail.

Diving into the most royal shade of blue, the crêpe gown worn by Stacy Martin features a halter neckline and a long, draped silhouette that extends beyond the body. The elongated back train is constructed by the Louis Vuitton atelier to follow the natural line of the figure before elongating it.

It comes as no surprise that no fewer than 300 hours of work went into achieving this result, each hour contributing to the gown’s overall resplendence. The top, tied around a draped high-front collar, balances structure with looseness, combining controlled volume with a natural fall. This softness is lenient enough to be fitted back at the hips, while the high-front waist remains concealed by the bloused back top. Achieving this level of control and precision in draping requires the patient assemblage of thousands of pins.
