IF HARRY STYLES’ NEW ALBUM COULD DRESS UP

words by FRANCESCO PIZZUTI

Whether you like it or not, Harry Styles has always been a cultural maker. Long before the sold-out arenas and solo career, his mythology was already forming: the world-altering boy band years, the endless internet conspiracies, the disarming smile, and, inevitably, his style. From his bandanas, black skinny jeans, and Chelsea boots, to the maximalist romance of Alessandro Michele’s Gucci period, and later the colorful sneakers, short shorts, and a baseball cap combo. And then, further, when he appeared in a full-on gown, making the internet combust. Whether you read his fashion evolution as genuinely transgressive or not, the reality is that he pushed further than most male pop stars of his scale. He talked about it, played along, and never rushed to clarify or deny speculation about his sexuality. Maybe that ambiguity edges into queerbaiting, but for someone who’s been doing it long before long before mainstream got woke — or at least woke-er — he still deserves some credit. Minority or not, he pushed the conversation forward.

Now, the new album, titled Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, has arrived. Opinions are polarized, with some hearing a joyous disco-leaning evolution, and others something more forgettable. We wanted to approach it differently, translating the songs into fashion. What look would each track wear? What silhouette captures its mood? After all, if anyone deserves a fashion-first reading of their music, it’s Mr. Styles. So let’s dive in, shall we?

APERTURE

For the album’s opening track, the one carrying the “we belong together” spirit, Styles leans into a synth-heavy sound shaped by club music. The vibe instantly brings to mind a look from Balmain Fall 2024 by Olivier Rousteing. A fitted black turtle-neck shirt, studded with sparkling gems that form the shape of an eye across the chest. The design is reminiscent of the hypnotic visuals that pulse across club screens, watching the crowd as the crowd moves together on the dance floor. Sleek, sexy, and a little mysterious.

AMERICAN GIRLS

This track feels light, like a fresh ocean breeze hitting your face on a summer day. These looks from Prada Spring 25 Men’s Collection capture the feeling perfectly. The fun color combination, the sweater being fitted just enough to reveal a hint of skin, and the fake collar-looking design. It all renders very playful, effortless, and quintessentially Harry.

READY, STEADY, GO

This catchy pop-rock banger got us hooked with its funky chorus. The overall vibes are loose and casual, and the lyrics seem to revolve around a mischievous little fling. That same carefree energy comes through in this look from the Etro Fall 23 collection with the blackberry motif playfully flirting with the white knit of the t-shirt, while the bootcut jeans complete the outfit in a cool twist.

ARE YOU LISTENING YET?

Harry checks in with us here, making sure we’re fully locked in. The track is almost spoken rather than sung — closer to poetry — while still keeping the album’s playful pulse. If he’s asking for our attention, the look should do the same. Enter Vetements, the ultimate culture provocateur, with a piece from its Fall 2019 collection, known for satirizing censorship. The graphic tee reads “elephant in the room”, a nod to hypocrisy and the political discomfort we sometimes prefer to ignore.

TASTE BACK

This track carries a strong late-2000s energy, so what better reference than a look from John Galliano Spring 2008? It even echoes Harry Styles’ early X Factor days with those swaggy outfits with scrunched-up sweatpants, very à la Skins. The song reads like a messy, complicated love letter, and Galliano’s look captures that tension. With its structured, cropped green military jacket, the silhouette feels almost combative, mirroring lyrics like “Where’d you find the confidence to call me baby?”

THE WAITING GAME

For this more introspective track, which feels like Styles reflecting on himself as a celebrity, the mood turns a little melancholic. A look from the Celine Spring 2026 fits perfectly with this comfortable, quieter vibe. A loose white T-shirt tucked into baggy, almost parachute-like white trousers gives that private, artsy energy. It’s pure off-duty Harry.

SEASON 2 WEIGHT LOSS

This track leans more into an electro-pop sound, though its chorus still feels consistent with the sound of Harry’s earlier albums. The lyrics play with the idea of coming back as a new version of yourself, improved and ready to perform under the increasing pressure of the public eye, while negotiating the uneasy divide between public image and private identity. To echo that energy, this look from Dior Fall 26 menswear show channels a subtle Harry-on-tour aesthetic, yet without finalizing it; still in transition. The sparkly sequin tank captures the performative glamour of the stage, but the straight-leg jeans keep the look more grounded and casual.

COMING UP ROSES

This one feels like old Harry. Stripped of the disco air of the other tracks, the song leans full romantic and grand; proposal-worthy. There’s a hint of nostalgia to it, reminiscent of the tailored suits he wore in his first tour during the Alessandro Michele era. That’s why this suit from the Gucci Spring 17 collection fits so perfectly. Embroidered with roses all over, it’s dramatic, romantic, theatrical, and fun, just like Styles’ performances. And of course, given the song’s title, roses had to make an appearance with this one.

POP

Here, Styles returns to the disco, synth-pop sound that defines the album. The track is exuberant and instantly catchy, built around themes of imagination and fantasy. It brought to mind the KidSuper Spring 26 Menswear collection, which similarly explored themes of childhood ambition and unapologetic fantasy. This look features red marker scrawled across white fabric, covering the entire outfit in words that appear to be scribbled over again, like a sheet of paper someone tried to erase. Details such as the red bow tie and the cone hat reinforce the unapologetic spirit of the song: “I wanted to behave, but I know I’ll do it again… It’s making me pop”.

DANCE NO MORE

Get your groove on with this irresistibly groovy track; the kind of song that makes you start shaking your shoulders and nodding your head, whether you’re a fan or not. To match that rhythm, we chose a look from the Saint Laurent Spring 15 collection, which captures that late-1960s groove, especially in the top half, but also renders it more modern with the black skinny jeans, which our boy Harry used to love back in the day.

PAINT BY NUMBERS

This track carries a slower and melancholic mood through elements like the acoustic guitar. Some listeners have interpreted the reference to “watergun fights” as a nod to Harry’s years in One Direction, where they would constantly spray each other on stage, and the loss of his former bandmate Liam. To echo that sense of quiet mourning, we chose this look from the Ann Demeulemeester Spring 18 collection. The black-centric palette evokes traditional elements of mourning, while the silhouette is loose and undone. Strands of fabric hang freely, and the shirt is half-tucked, giving the look a deconstructed, fragile quality that mirrors the song’s reflective atmosphere.

CARLA’S SONG

image via @andreaceciliadubon on pinterest

Harry closes the album with a love letter to music itself; an invitation to return, replay, and rediscover its transformative power. “I know what you like, you can hear it anytime”, he repeats many times. For a track about music’s lasting magic, we imagined something ethereal; after all, Harry loves a sheer, lace fantasy. In this Palomo Spain Spring 24 look, delicate lace panels skim the torso over an almost invisible shirt, lilac silk trousers fall dreamily, like the song’s melodies, and a lace robe floats behind. It all renders fluid, androgynous, and almost angelic, light enough to float and dance all night, carried by the force of music.
