IS IT A DREAM? INSIDE ANN DEMEULEMEESTER'S FW26 CAMPAIGN

words by DEBORAH DRENOFCI

This FW26 campaign, shot by Nikolai Von Bismarck and styled by Elodie David, channels Ann Demeulemeester's signature romantic mysteriousness, capturing a moment too real to be a dream, yet too fleeting to be reality.

In the coastal town of Margate, two kids are roaming around, elegant yet composed, free yet searching for something, or someone, awake yet full of dreams. It makes one wonder whether the young woman in the loose T-shirt is reminiscing over a broken heart, or imagining the moment love will finally triumph in her life. Or perhaps the young man in the black fringe jacket has simply decided it's time to let go, to be free. They seem caught in the space between memory and present, the kind of space you only find in the deepest dreams, the ones you sometimes see with your eyes wide open.

The collection speaks the same language: a soft rebellion built on ribbons and fringe, where youthful hope and quiet longing meet. Classic tailoring softens into something more alternative, while feminine and masculine dissolve into one another, restless, tender, and entirely Ann Demeulemeester.

In the end, they don't tell us where they're going. Perhaps that was never the point.
