SONGZIO AND HELIOT EMIL RETURN WITH ‘FALCONRY’ COLLECTION

words by ANOUK WOUDT

Collaborating on a collection for the second time, Songzio and Heliot Emil have once again proven to be two birds of a feather through the launch of their latest Summer 26 collection titled Falconry. Drawing its name from the hunting method, the collection embodies its ancient rituals and the trusting yet controlled dynamic between the hand that releases and the winged body that returns. Translating this logic to form, the pieces bring together aerodynamic silhouettes and taut constructions to mimic the complex interplay of freedom and tension that exists in this delicate dance between human and birds of prey.

Bringing elements of each brand to a calculated fruition, Falconry merges Songzio’s taste for avant-garde with Heliot Emil’s functional engineering-inspired structures to create a perfect expression of what the collection signifies. Each individual creative language seems to find its strengths through this central theme, allowing the poetic nature of birds to be as articulated as the engineered ritual that follows them.

Differentiating itself from their first collaboration, Duel, this new collection creates pieces that carry a story and meaning in every seam, while similarly morphing the brand's highlights into something entirely new. Building off their previous collaboration, these pieces push further boundaries rather than serving as a sterile continuation.

Using the wing as an aerodynamic blueprint, each piece is delicately layered to recreate a bird’s feathered appearance, with tensions that act as harnesses and silhouettes that tread the boundary of softness and protection. Alike a falcon, it seems everything is engineered for sudden ascent and descent.

Apart from its clear avian details, the collection zeroes in on the gear that accompanies the act as well. Straps and tensioned webbing act as practical elements made for grip and control, providing fastenings that feel like equipment rather than manifestations of pure aestheticism. Transforming falconry’s meaning, the collection clings your focus to the precision and technique that goes into this antiquated method. Its traditional values are repurposed as a study of stillness before impact, and the minimalistic movements that serve to create maximum outcome.

Unveiled on June 5th at the Galerie Noir in Seoul, which is Songzio’s art and fashion space, the collection is now available in store for global shipping through their website. Their next exciting announcement comes with the exclusive global opening in Songzio’s Paris Flagship Store on the 12th of June, where you’ll be able to check out the clothes in their actuality soon.
