Internationally acclaimed Indonesian singer, songwriter and actress Agnez Mo enters an exciting new chapter in her career with her first major international acting role as the female lead in Season 4 of Reacher, premiering on 12th August. Agnez brings a compelling new character to the hit action series while continuing to build on a career that has already made her one of Southeast Asia’s biggest music stars. With a global fan base of more than 30 million followers and another high-profile film, Groove Tails, already on the horizon, Agnez is proving herself to be a true cross-disciplinary talent.

Reacher marks your first major international acting role. What made this project feel like the right one to begin this chapter?

What made Reacher special was that I earned it. It had actually been about 15 years since I last acted, so deciding to come back, especially on an international level, was a huge step for me. This was my first audition after making that decision, and I genuinely wanted to go through the process. I didn't want to get the role because of my name or my music career, I wanted to know I deserved to be there.

So when I got the call, after a callback and chemistry test, it meant so much more than just landing a role. Reacher already has such a passionate global audience, an incredible cast, and such a high standard of storytelling. It felt like the perfect project to begin this new chapter because it challenged me from day one.

What can you tell us about your character, and what drew you to her?

Without giving too much away, Lila is someone who carries a lot beneath the surface. She's intelligent, resilient, and emotionally layered. What I loved most about her is that she's never one-dimensional. Even in the middle of intense situations, she's still very human. Those are always my favorite characters to play, the ones that feel real rather than perfect. Regardless of whether she’s a protagonist or an antagonist.

Coming from a music background, what surprised you most about working on a large-scale television production?

I was honestly surprised, and feel very lucky, that my first international project was on a production as big as Reacher, yet it still felt like a family. Everyone, from the cast to the creator to the crew, genuinely cared about the project and about each other. What impressed me the most is that even after 3 successful seasons, nobody was on autopilot. There was still so much passion, commitment, and excitement to make the best show possible. You could really feel that everyone showed up every day because they genuinely wanted to create something great, and I think that's something really special.

Did your experience as a performer help you approach acting in unexpected ways?

Even though music came first for me, acting has had a huge influence on the artist I've become. I started acting when I was very young, and I honestly think it made me a better songwriter and storyteller. It taught me how to understand people, emotions, and character in a much deeper way.

To me, acting and music have always been connected because they're both about telling stories through emotion. When you're performing a song, you're not just singing lyrics, you're inviting people to feel something. Acting isn't that different. The biggest lesson both have taught me is emotional honesty. Whether I'm on stage or on set, people can always tell when something is genuine, and I think that's what audiences connect with the most.
