IN CONVERSATION WITH THE LEARMANN TWINS

interview by JANA LETONJA

Ana and Lexie Learmann, known collectively as the Learmann Twins, are identical twins redefining what modern wellness looks like for a new generation. With a highly engaged global audience across TikTok and Instagram, the duo has built a platform centered on confidence, fitness, nutrition, and intentional living. Graduates of the University of Minnesota with Bachelor of Science degrees in Nutrition Sciences, they combine academic knowledge with a relatable, real-world approach to health. While Ana is known for her high-energy workouts and disciplined mindset, Lexie brings a balanced, welcoming perspective that emphasizes sustainability, food freedom, and enjoyment. Together, they create a dynamic dialogue around wellness that feels empowering rather than intimidating. Their authenticity has led to collaborations with major brands including Gymshark, Amazon, Foot Locker, Covergirl, Microsoft, Fenty Beauty, and Benefit Cosmetics — even landing billboard placements in New York’s Times Square. At their core, the Learmann Twins represent a new wave of digital creators: educated, aspirational, and deeply committed to building a community that values confidence, balance, and self-trust.

You’re identical twins who have built both individual and shared platforms. How did that dynamic shape your approach to creating content?

We’ve always been individuals who share a lot of similarities, interests, and perspectives, so that naturally translated into the content we create. Honestly, there wasn’t much shaping that had to happen. You can see that in the way we edit, the types of things we talk about, and the overall tone of what we share online. At the same time, we’ve always approached our platforms as individuals first. While there are plenty of things we do together because it feels natural, cohesive, and something our community enjoys seeing, we’ve also given ourselves the space to share the areas of our lives that each of us gravitates toward. That balance has happened very organically over time. Our shared dynamic is a big part of who we are, but so is our individuality. Being twins simply means we get to show both, the things we naturally experience together and the personal interests that make each of us a little different, and our community has really embraced that.

When did you first realize that your wellness content was resonating with a global audience?

We knew it resonated with a global audience when we started to cultivate a community of people who also had a passion for fitness and health. What originally started as just a fun outlet to track our progress transcended into a whole community of people who were like minded, motivated, and inspired to move their bodies and live a balanced lifestyle. As our community grew, so did the conversations we were having online. Fitness was the foundation, but it naturally expanded into other areas of our lives. For example, navigating college and sharing our routines as students, to beauty, skincare, and hair, and the everyday habits that help us feel our best. Our platforms have really become a space where we can share the full picture of our lifestyle: wellness, self care, personal growth, and the things we’re learning along the way.

You both studied Nutrition Sciences. How important was it for you to bring an educational foundation into the wellness space online?

It was extremely important for us to bring an educational background into the wellness space online because there can often be a lot of misinformation circulating online. Studying Nutrition Sciences gave us a stronger foundation to better understand health, wellness, and the science behind many of the topics we would be sharing to our community. So when we decide to share within that realm we want to make sure that we are not just speaking from experience but with facts. While we’re always still learning, having that educational background helps us approach wellness more thoughtfully and responsibly, especially to a large impressionable audience. It allows us to share information, experiences, and lifestyle habits in a way that feels more accurately informed, balanced, and transparent with our audience.

Social media can sometimes promote unrealistic fitness standards. How do you approach creating content that feels empowering rather than intimidating?

We do our best to approach fitness in a way that is realistic rather than only sharing the highlights. This is extremely important because of the pressure that can surround trying a new workout, recipe, or even starting a running journey. It can feel intimidating to try something new when what you mostly see online looks perfect or effortless. Throughout the years, we’ve showcased the full experience in our own content like workout fails, earning curves, to recipes that didn’t quite turn out the way we expected. Those moments are just as much a part of the process as the successes, sharing the journey is just as important as sharing the outcome. We’ve always wanted our corner of the internet to feel like a space where people can try new things, learn along the way, and feel encouraged to get back up and keep going if something doesn’t work out the first time.

Many of your followers are young women navigating confidence and body image. What message do you hope they take away from your platform?

Something that’s really important to us is making sure our platform feels both motivating and real. We want people to take away inspiration, of course, but also the understanding that everyone’s journey looks different and it’s not always perfect. We have been sharing our lives online since high school, especially around health, fitness, and wellness, so our community has really grown up alongside us. Over time we’ve tried to show the reality of that growth. The changes, the fluctuations, and the learning that comes with becoming women and figuring out what works for us. Our hope is that someone watching our content might feel encouraged to start their own fitness or wellness journey in a way that feels approachable and not overcomplicated. Movement, health, and taking care of yourself shouldn’t feel intimidating. It can look like finding ways to move your body that you enjoy and building habits that support you in the long run. We also want women to feel less alone in their relationship with their bodies. Confidence and body image are things so many women struggle with, and it can feel really isolating. If our platform can help someone feel understood, supported, or a little more comfortable in their own skin, then that’s something we’re really proud of.

Wellness trends come and go quickly online. How do you stay grounded in principles that are actually sustainable?

Finding what works for your body and your schedule is the best way to build wellness habits that actually stick. Trends come and go, but routines and habits that are tailored to you are what set people up for the long run. The internet is always going to influence how people approach wellness, but we always remind our community that everything isn’t for everyone. What works for someone else, or fits into their schedule, might not make sense for someone else's, and that’s completely okay.

You’ve collaborated with major brands like Gymshark, Amazon, and Fenty Beauty. What do you look for before deciding to partner with a brand?

Before deciding to partner with a brand, we always ask ourselves a few simple questions. Does this align with who we are, and does it feel like an authentic partnership? Those two things usually go hand in hand. Our community has grown with us over the years, so it’s really important that anything we share feels natural and true to our lifestyle. We also think about whether it’s something we would genuinely use or already incorporate into our routines. If it’s a product or brand that fits seamlessly into our everyday lives, whether that’s wellness, beauty, fitness, or lifestyle. it makes it much easier to share in a way that feels organic rather than forced. At the end of the day, we want partnerships to feel more like a recommendation from someone our community trusts. If it’s something we’re excited about and it makes sense for our audience, that’s when we know it’s the right fit.

Seeing your work featured on billboards in Times Square must have been a surreal moment. How did that feel?

Seeing our work featured on billboards in Time Square was honestly one of those moments that truly didn’t fully register until we were standing there looking at it. When we started posting online, we were filming in our bedrooms and editing on our phones, so seeing something that started so small show up on a billboard in New York City felt completely surreal. It was also a moment of reflection for us. We thought about the years we’ve dedicated to creating content, the community that has supported us along the way, and how an opportunity like this came our way from just simply sharing parts of our lives online. More than anything, it felt like a milestone that represented the growth of our platforms and career, as well as the trust our community and brand partners have placed in us.

Your content often highlights both discipline and real-life vulnerability. Why is transparency important in the wellness conversation?

Transparency is important because wellness is so often portrayed online in a way that feels very polished and perfect, and that’s not the reality of anyone’s experience. Discipline is a big part of building healthy habits, but there are also days when things don’t go as planned. We think it’s important to show both sides because that’s what makes wellness sustainable. Being open about setbacks, learning curves, and the parts of life that aren’t always picture perfect helps people understand that growth isn’t linear. Our goal has always been to create a space where people feel encouraged to try things, give themselves grace when they are figuring things outs, and remember that progress doesn’t have to look perfect to look meaningful.

Mental health and physical health are deeply connected. How do you approach that relationship in your own lives?

For us, wellness has never been just about fitness or nutrition on their own. Mental health plays a huge role in how we feel day to day, and that’s something we’ve learned to prioritize just as much as physical health. Movement is one of the ways we support that balance because it helps clear our minds and gives us a sense of structure, but we’ve also learned that rest and boundaries are just as important. Over time we’ve become more intentional about protecting our energy, listening to what our bodies need, and making sure we’re not pushing ourselves in ways that feel unsustainable. Wellness should support your life not overwhelm it, and that perspective has become really important to the both of us.

As twins, do you ever challenge each other’s perspectives on fitness, nutrition, or lifestyle choices?

Definitely. Even though we share a lot of the same values and interests, we still approach certain things a little differently, and that actually helps us grow. Sometimes one of us will have a completely different perspective on a workout style, routine, or how to approach something in our lives, and those conversations turn into mini debates that usually end with one of us saying, “Okay, you might have a point.” Because we’ve spent our entire lives together, we’re comfortable being honest with each other in a way that’s constructive. It’s never really about proving who’s right, although we might jokingly try. It’s more about exchanging ideas and figuring out what works best for each of us. In a lot of ways, that dynamic has shaped how we approach wellness overall, with openness, curiosity, and a little bit of twin banter rather than rigid rules.

How do you personally maintain balance between productivity, wellness, and rest?

Maintaining balance is something we’re always learning and adjusting. When you’re passionate about what you do, it’s really easy to fall into a constant cycle of being “on,” especially when social media moves so fast and there’s always something to post, film, or work on. Over time, we’ve realized that balance comes from being a little more intentional with our routines. Simple things like moving our bodies, eating real meals, spending time with people we love, and putting our phones down for a bit all make a big difference. We’ve also learned that rest isn’t something you have to earn after being productive all day. Sometimes it just means listening to your body and giving yourself a break when you need it. Creating space for both work and recovery has helped us show up with more energy and actually enjoy what we’re doing.

Looking ahead, are there projects or initiatives you’d love to launch beyond social media?

There’s honestly so much to look forward to. Over the years, we’ve realized that what we’re building goes far beyond just posting content online. Social media was the starting point, but it’s opened the door to so many ideas and possibilities that we’re really excited about. Right now, we’re in a season of exploring what those next chapters could look like and being thoughtful about how we want to grow both individually and together. There are definitely projects and initiatives we’re passionate about developing in the future, but we’re still in the early stages and want to make sure we approach them the right way. What we can say is that we’re really excited for what’s ahead, and we’re grateful that our community will grow alongside us as those things unfold.
