ACNE STUDIOS PRESENTS ACNE PAPER ISSUE 20
words by NATALIE GAL
Acne Paper celebrates its twentieth anniversary with a special issue, a stunning collection of fashion stories, essays, interviews, and art portfolios.
Turning its pages, one can't help but be reminded of iconic art pieces like Salvador Dalí's The Persistence of Memory or The Elephants. You might even spot echoes of René Magritte, Gustav Klimt, or Amedeo Modigliani. It's a blend of melting surrealism and a golden reflection of millennia meeting the bittersweet nostalgia of Hollywood glamour and Art Deco.
The issue features captivating fashion stories from renowned talents such as Sarah Moon and Patti Wilson, Leslie Zhang and Audrey Hu, Sharna Osborne and Robbie Spencer, Paul Kooiker and Beat Bolliger, Vidar Logi and Edda Gudmundsdottir, Julia Hetta and Emman, Rafael Pavarotti and George Krakowiak, Julien Martinez Leclerc and Katie Burnett, and Lisa Jarvis and Szilveszter Makó, who also photographed actress and model Raya Martigny for the cover.
Gold is a powerful symbol throughout this edition, representing hope — a brightness that has journeyed through history. From the ancient empires now reduced to hollow memories, through the glory of Rococo Versailles and the twinkling glow of the Roaring Twenties, it reminds us of a hope we desperately need now, just as it was needed during history's toughest times. This issue serves as a touching reminder of how hope has persevered through every changing era, no matter the challenges.
