HAVE YOU EVER TRIED THIS ONE? SAINT LAURENT’S VIRAL TIE TUCK

Lately, I’ve been thinking about ties. Sure, they’ve always been around – never quite gone, never truly forgotten – but of all fashion pieces, they might be the ones most in need of a breath of fresh air. My mind wandered to Annie Hall, Julia Roberts at the 1990 Golden Globes, and of course, Marlene Dietrich’s iconic androgynous style. These are some of the most memorable looks in fashion history – and none of them would be the same without a tie.

Now, ties are having a moment again. The shift is subtle, but it hints at something new. In Saint Laurent’s latest collection, sharply tailored 80s-style suits with exaggerated shoulder pads came paired with ties – not stiffly knotted, but gently twisted and tucked under the third button. A small styling trick, but one that's catching on fast. More and more, people are embracing this simple tweak to take the edge off an otherwise formal silhouette.

There’s actually a curious bit of history behind this habit. During World War II, soldiers often tucked in their ties – not for style, but for practicality. It was about free movement, ease, and staying neat without getting caught on something. They still felt a need to be elegant and put together, even in the midst of war and tragedy. Now, what once was a necessity is turning into a fashion statement.

“Dressing like your grandpa” – you’ve probably heard the phrase by now. It’s not about being flashy and showing off, it’s about elegance.Tailored shirts, straight-legged trousers with just the right amount of looseness, and those long, serious black coats, classic Mr. Big style. Saint Laurent’s tuck-tie trick fits seamlessly into this mood. It feels like a rediscovery, a nod to the past, but with a modern twist (quite literally).

We’re drowning in micro-trends these days, so much so that it’s nearly impossible to keep up. But something interesting is happening – a noticeable shift. People are starting to crave timelessness. A sense of effortlessness. We’re reconnecting with something familiar and what seemed to be long-gone. Saint Laurent has always embodied that – adapting and evolving with the times, yet they have remained close to their core aesthetics – refined suits, rich leathers, and earthy tones. In many ways, they could be the foundation of this new wave of fashion.

And all of this from tucking in a tie? Yes. Because trends are both symptoms and signals. And that’s what makes them so endlessly fascinating. What might the coming year bring to the ever-shifting fashion world? It seems to me now, 2026 promises to be a pivotal year – and it’s time to start making our bets.
