MAISON VALENTINO PRESENTS L’ATELIER SONORE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH TERRAFORMA
words by NATALIE GAL
Maison Valentino unveils L’Atelier Sonore, an immersive audio sanctuary installed within its Madison Avenue flagship. Opening on May 15, this intimate sound room is the result of a creative collaboration with Italian cultural platform Terraforma, guided by founder Ruggero Pietromarchi.
Crafted in partnership with architect Francesco Lupia, L’Atelier Sonore is built around three key components: a tailor-made sound system, a custom-built listening console drawing from classical cabinet-making, and velvet-cushioned seating. These elements form an elegant, cohesive space. Covered in a patchwork of fine wood veneers, the design showcases exquisite craftsmanship and a commitment to both sensuality and timeless design. Tactile surfaces and flowing fabrics evoke the ambience of experimental European listening salons.
To inaugurate the space, Valentino and Terraforma will host a special 10-hour sonic experience on May 15, spotlighting the diverse vibration of New York’s musical landscape. The program will unfold as a series of intimate vinyl listening sets from a curated lineup of international artists—Laraaji, Lea Bertucci, Laurel Halo, Lizzi Bougatsos, Chuquimamani-Condori, Kevin Beasley, Veronica Vasicka, and Physical Therapy. Each artist will share selections from their record collections, creating a fluid, evolving narrative of sound and memory.
