SEE THE FULL LIST OF THE 77TH EMMY NOMINATIONS

editor MAREK BARTEK

It’s that time of year again, and one of TV’s biggest showdowns is officially on. The 2025 Emmy nominations are here, offering a closer look at the shows and stars that defined the past year in television. From long-awaited returns to surprise newcomers, this year’s list proves one thing: television is still in its golden age, and the bar just keeps getting higher.

The nominations were announced on July 15 in Los Angeles, with Brenda Song and Harvey Guillén hosting the official presentation from the Television Academy’s Wolf Theatre. As always, the rollout sparked instant reactions across the industry, from celebration posts, industry analysis, surprise inclusions, and a few eyebrow-raising tweets, promising this to be yet another lively awards season.

Leading the pack is Severance, which scored an impressive 27 nominations, cementing its status as a critical and creative powerhouse. Close behind are The Penguin with 24, and both The Studio and The White Lotus with 23 each. An especially strong showing for The Studio, which is making its debut this year.

In the drama category, established hits like The Last of Us, Andor, Slow Horses, and The Diplomat sit alongside newer entries like Paradise and The Pitt, going for a tightly race. Over in comedy, audience favourites such as Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, and Only Murders in the Building return, joined by breakout series Nobody Wants This and The Studio.

The limited series category is equally stacked, led by The Penguin once again, this time competing with titles like Black Mirror, Adolescence, Dying for Sex, and Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. True crime, speculative fiction, and intimate storytelling all find a place here, truly showing the spectrum this format can offer.

On the acting front, there’s no shortage of star power. Performers like Jeremy Allen White, Pedro Pascal, Cate Blanchett, and Bella Ramsey are all in the mix, with supporting categories spotlighting standouts including Tramell Tillman, Quinta Brunson, and Parker Posey.

In short: the Emmys are coming, the stakes are high, and we’ll be glued to our screens until September 14. Let the campaign chaos begin.
