BREITLING UNVEILS THE ERLING HAALAND SIGNATURE CHRONOMAT

words by NATALIE GAL

Breitling’s recent piece was co-designed with pro footballer Erling Haaland. Together they have created a personal collection, two limited-edition models: the Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 in stainless steel and platinum, capped at 500 pieces, and the Chronomat B01 42 in 18k red gold, limited to just 250. However, all pieces are individual, unique and different, since the models feature meteorite dials.

Founded in 1884, Breitling is one of the revolutionary Swiss watchmakers today. They have the ability to reinvent, innovate and move with the passage of time in a spectacular way. The original Chronomat is an icon of the 1980s, inspired by a watch created for the Italian aerial squadron, Frecce Tricolori. This classic piece is instantly recognisable with it’s delicate handgraving and comfortable, yet elegant form.

The meteorite dial is a truly outstanding feature. Forged in the heart of a dying star over 4.5 billion years ago, its is one of the oldest materials ever discovered on Earth. These terrestrial rocks are scattered across the glacial moraines in the north of Sweden, where they were carefully recovered and handled to give them new form and purpose.
