VEJA INTRODUCES ETNA - ITS VERY FIRST SANDAL
Etna is a design that pays homage to the brand’s deep Brazilian roots. Positioned at the intersection of city life, nature, and exploration, Etna invites wearers to move freely between urban environments and outdoor adventures. Launching nearly two decades after VEJA’s inception, the sandal feels like a natural evolution, especially in a country where sandals are a wardrobe essential. With a thick yet lightweight sole made from Amazonian rubber and a flexible insole derived from sugarcane-based green EVA, Etna reflects the brand’s continued commitment to environmentally responsible materials.
Rooted in VEJA’s origin story, the sandal marks a return to Brazil, where all materials are sourced and assembled under fair social, economic, and environmental conditions. Etna also responds to the realities of a warming climate, offering a breathable and comfortable alternative to sneakers during hotter months. The design combines function with thoughtful detailing: straps made from Organic Traced leather ensure both durability and style, while two Velcro fastenings and subtle embroidered accents provide easy adjustment and a clean finish.
Etna’s upper is crafted from soft, sanded suede sourced from farms in Rio Grande do Sul and tanned in Brazil without the use of harmful or banned chemicals. All dyes used comply with strict safety standards, and the suede is treated with PFC-free water-repellent oils for light rain protection. As with all VEJA products, the emphasis is on transparency, sustainability, and innovation.
