EXCESS VENICE, A HIDDEN RETREAT IN A RESTORED PALAZZO

Located within the confines of a 17th-century Venetian palazzo in the Dorsoduro district, Excess Venice offers a boutique that doubles as a hotel getaway for those searching for a quiet retreat from the city’s tourist season. Overlooking a private garden, the architecture, interiors and service come together to create a highly elevated atmosphere. Carried by Elisabetta Dotto’s vision and utmost care for hospitality, she creates a hotel that is not simply a place to inhabit but a place to slow time down and truly leave an impression on each guest who is welcomed.

The true star of the show is the interior design. Merging the building's innate historical character with a unique touch of modernity, we arrive at a place swarmed with mid-century modern furnishings, velvet couch pillows, and fringed standing lamps. Rich textures and bold colours immediately envelop you in pure luxury, while keeping a level of intimacy.

In the heart of the restored Venetian villa lies the private garden, which represents a place of quiet and suspension for guests to take time to pause and reflect. Ornate pillars and statues line the sides of the courtyard tables and chairs, while overarching trees bring lushness to the surroundings. A fountain decorates the centre, creating a scene that looks straight out of La Dolce Vita.

As a third-generation Italian innkeeper, hotelier Elisabetta Dotto grew up surrounded by the culture of hospitality, giving her a deeper understanding of hotel management and guest experience from an early age. Designs avoid spectacle, prioritising sensitivity over standards of indulgence common in hospitality.

Excess Venice is not your average hotel experience— it’s unconventional, authentic and meticulously designed to curate a brand new vision of Venetian hospitality. Its character defines it, creating a space that leaves a lasting impression rather than a temporary place to stay.
