INSIDE SUBLIME HOTEL: A LISBON STORY

Nestled on a peaceful corner of Lisbon’s leafy Amoreiras neighborhood stands the Sublime hotel — its name telling the story before you even step inside. Elegant yet relaxed, cosmopolitan yet homey, the Sublime hotel arrived in Lisbon in 2022, bridging the building’s past identity with the vibrancy of present-day Lisbon and blessing it with a space where nothing is casual, but everything is thoughtfully inspired, charming, and full of soul.
Walking through the hotel, the beautiful textures and colours of the wooden floor and and carpted stairs set a tone of welcoming luxury. Velvet appears throughout, from room pillows to restaurant sofas, adding a sense of quiet comfort, while preserved golden hardware brings character and charm. Natural materials anchor the space, creating an atmosphere that feels refined, calm, yet inspiring.
At a time when the current design climate is becoming increasingly homogenised, Sublime stands apart. No two rooms are the same. The 15 spacious rooms (ranging from 30 to 56 square metres), designed by Lisbon-based Andringa Studio, each feature a distinct wallpaper and colour palette, ensuring every stay feels personal. Contemporary furniture is paired with objects salvaged from the building’s previous lives, with mirrors, lamps, original tiles and wood, creating interiors that feel layered and lived rather than staged. From the private courtyards of the Pateo Rooms to the balconies of the Lisboa Rooms and the expansive suites with separate living areas, the spaces seamlessly blend interior and exterior, privacy and connection to the city.
Sublime’s pride and joy is its restaurant, Davvero. Davvero, meaning truly in Italian, is davvero that good. Ran by the incredibly skilled chef Isaac Kumi, the restaurant is always open to Lisbon, offering an unfussy italian cuising that moves across regions, while evolving with the season and the best Portuguese produce. To spice things up, every evening, there’s a different special dish, where creativity, ideas, and the freshest ingredients result in an extra on the menu, which has become something of an unmissable event.
As a whole, this hotel unfolds as a carefully layered experience; from the creative concept of mismatched rooms, to Davvero and its bar, and a gym membership that extends the hotel’s presence. Sublime builds his indentity through consistency and attention to detail, making its guests feel considered and at ease.
