Calling all Peaky Blinders fans, it’s time to get your flat caps out! Netflix’s official trailer for the new film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man has just been released. Following the hit series of the same name, Tommy Shelby is back after being forced to return from his self-imposed exile. Set amongst the chaos of World War II, he is confronted with his own demons through the introduction of his illegitimate son, now standing as the leader of the Peaky Blinders gang. Plagued with the decision of upholding or destroying his legacy, anticipation is high as we await to see how Tommy Shelby's story will finally end.

Confirmed in the trailer, Barry Keoghan will be joining the cast as a grown-up version of Duke Shelby, alongside the original TV series star Cillian Murphy, as Tommy’s son. The gang is shown terrorizing the streets of war-torn Birmingham, with returning character Ada Shelby, played by Sophie Rundle, expressing her concern saying, “Your gypsy son is running Peaky Blinders like it’s 1919 all over again.” After Tommy faked his own death to escape his past life, this forces him to return to the slums he once ran to stand against his own son’s tyranny. With the film taking place two decades after the series’ start, the city’s masses no longer recognize him. With his tough reputation faded, he is left with no choice but to build it up again.
Directed by Tom Harper, who was a contributing directorial force in the first season of Peaky Blinders, we can expect to get that similarly gritty energy that pulled us in all those years ago. Dark, sullen scenes of Old England overtake the trailer, encapsulating the misery its World War II setting. Writing by the original writer, Steven Knight, also ensures that we receive a faithful ending to one of the most watched series on Netflix.
The trailer also shows a first look at Tim Roth’s character, who plays a British Nazi sympathizer, shown coaxing Duke to take part in treason in order to ensure a win for Germany. In addition to him, newcomers Rebecca Ferguson and Jay Lycurgo make their first appearances, but their roles in the story are yet to be fully explained.
Set to premiere on March 6th in theaters and March 20th on Netflix, we will be awaiting excitedly to see what happens. Surrounded by explosions and gunfire, the film finale will certainly be an exciting conclusion to the beloved saga in this grand father-son showdown.
