AMELIE LENS CELEBRATES A DECADE OF MUSIC WITH THE RELEASE OF ‘FALLING INTO ACID DREAMS’

words by ANOUK WOUDT

Amelie Lens started out her musical journey with her first single EXHALE in 2016. Now, ten years later, she is still releasing music as her career continues to expand, cementing her as one of techno’s most recognisable and respected figures. Inspired by club culture and an early exposure to dark industrial rock, her musical style merges these influences to form her own niche in the scene. WIth her newest single Falling Into Acid Dreams, she brings forth a visceral intensity that simply cannot contain itself, which serves as the perfect backdrop for sweat-soaked dancefloors.

Starting from her roots in Belgium, she has made it a far way from home. In the past decade, she has grown from intimate DIY parties to hosting sold-out shows in some of the most renowned venues of Europe and the US. Headlining nights at RSO in Berlin, Shelter in Amsterdam and more, her signature EXHALE club night has done rounds at some of the most celebrated clubs, even reaching festival-level takeovers at Awakening ADE and Tomorrowland. Her influence also transgresses the physical boundaries of event spaces, amassing millions of streams across platforms that ensures her presence in the worldwide soundscape.

Following her 5-year celebration of her EXHALE label last year through the release of Exhale VA007, her recent musical release provides a continuation of her lifelong love letter to rave culture. Falling Into Acid Dreams is all about returning to Lens’ essence with upbeat high-impact techno that shaped the early moments of her career. Gradually intensifying, the track grips you into a hypnotic groove intercut with instantly recognizable vocals. It is a true full-circle moment that invites you to dance with a persistent energy that has stayed with her sound throughout these ten years.
