‘THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2’ TRAILER JUST DROPPED: HERE’S WHAT WE THINK

words by ANOUK WOUDT

With The Devil Wears Prada’s much-anticipated sequel release date creeping closer, we are slowly being revealed more information on what we can expect to see. The teaser showed us those controversial red Valentino Rockstud pumps strutting and a glimpse of our leading ladies, but we were still left anticipating first looks at the other characters and plot points. Well, the official trailer dropped yesterday, and after watching, we need to debrief.

Here are a few thoughts on what happened:

  • The whole cast looks impossibly unchanged 20 years later

  • Did Miranda suffer from selective memory loss at some point in between these movies? Or is it all just a sneaky power play?

  • Did Andy ditch the fashion world, or did it spit her out?

  • First looks at Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci’s reprisals, both looking incredible

  • The wardrobe is still very much giving millennial grey

  • Miranda shares the elevator with Andy for once, is it a promise of a relationship shift as equals in the fashion world?

  • All of the Milan scenes remind us of the D&G SS26 show, where Streep and Tucci were spotted watching the show in character during filming

  • Andy being twirled by a mystery man, is her love story finally going to work out?

  • The Dior “safety pin” look that was spotted during filming was used with Emily’s entrance as Miranda’s rival

  • Emily having two Emilies of her own now is everything

  • Also, Andy returning as Runway’s new features editor? They all broke free from the eternal assistant pipeline

All in all, the trailer gave us a peek into the character dynamics with spoiling too much and leaving us with enough intrigue to want more. The cast looks amazing, their lives look even more glamorous, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for our long-lost fashionista duo.
