Glamour, nightlife, and Amanda Lepore go hand in hand. Known for her fabulous style and presence, she remains one of the most recognisable figures in the community. Ahead of her performance at Amsterdam World Pride and the release of "Follow Me" with Stanley Redex, we spoke with her about nightlife, confidence, and what Pride means to her.

“Follow Me” with Stanley Redex brings together the energy of New York’s legendary Club Kids era with Dutch tech house. What was it about this collaboration that really excited you, and how did you make sure both of your worlds came through in this final chapter?
Even though I didn’t know him that well, after he sent me the track I just loved it. I was really happy with how it turned out.
The song is described as a celebration of night life. At a time when club culture is facing challenges around the world, having been such an iconic figure in night life for decades, what do you hope “Follow Me” reminds people about the importance of the dance floor and queer night life today?
It’s about escaping the world through glamour and fantasy.
You also just performed at World Pride in Amsterdam. What was the energy like from the stage, and how did this crowd compare to other crowds you’ve experienced?
Everything was amazing, especially the second day. It gave me so much energy. The audience was really great.

Amsterdam has such a rich LGBTQ+ history. What does performing here during this moment of World Pride mean to you personally?
The gays are the better!
You’ve become an icon across fashion and queer culture. What do you hope young LGBTQ+ people take away when they see you perform?
I think they really appreciate what I do. I’ve been doing this for many years, and I always put on a great show.
Your look has always been about unapologetic self expression. What advice would you give to someone who is still finding the confidence to be themselves?
Just start little by little. Take care of yourself and try to look your best. I go to the gym now, and it’s given me so much energy and confidence in my body. Eating well and taking care of yourself can really build confidence. Make a mood board of things you love, recreate looks you admire, put on makeup, dress up. The more you cultivate your style and take care of yourself, the more confidence you radiate.

You’ve inspired so many generations of artists, designers, performers. What keeps you inspired after all these years?
I’m always tweaking things. I keep the same look, but I’m always changing little details and finding ways to keep it fresh.
Pride is both a celebration and a protest, what message do you think is most important to the community right now?
Stick together. Don’t fight. Support each other, and don’t be alone.
If you had to describe your Amsterdam World Pride experience in one word, what wold it be?
Fabulous.
