Evan Nikolas Fields is a rising actor whose work reflects both emotional grounding and adventurous spirit. Currently starring as Flynn Griffin in ‘The Wayfinders’, Angel Studios’ original action-fantasy series, he brings heart and complexity to a coming-of-age story set in an extraordinary world. With a career that spans Netflix features and popular network series, Evan Nikolas continues to build a body of work defined by sincerity, curiosity, and an instinct for characters navigating transformation.
What first drew you to ‘The Wayfinders’ and to the character of Flynn Griffin?
I was drawn to Flynn because he isn’t a perfect hero. He’s unsure and scared, yet he still shows up, which felt very real to me.
Flynn is described as the emotional compass of the group. How did you approach carrying that responsibility on screen?
I approached it by focusing on empathy. Flynn doesn’t have all the answers, but he listens and leads emotionally, which made that responsibility feel natural.
Flynn’s journey is about learning to trust himself. What parts of that arc felt personally relatable to you?
Learning to trust your instincts, stop overthinking, and believe you are capable even when you are unsure is something I have experienced myself, so stepping into Flynn’s journey felt very natural.
What moment in the season best defines Flynn for you?
The moment that defines Flynn for me is when he stops doubting himself and makes a choice without looking to anyone else for approval.
How important is collaboration in grounding a story that’s so visually and narratively ambitious?
Collaboration is everything. With a story this big, you need trust between the cast and crew to keep it grounded and honest. That teamwork is what makes the world feel real.
You’ve worked across comedy, drama, and now fantasy—how do you choose projects?
I choose projects based on the story and the character. If it feels honest and challenges me, that is what matters most.
How do you stay focused on craft while navigating increased visibility?
Staying focused is essential. Perfecting my craft and doing the best work I can is what matters most to me. Everything else comes second.
How do you continue to challenge yourself as an actor?
I challenge myself by staying curious and open to learning. Each role is a chance to grow, listen more, and push into something that feels a little uncomfortable.
What excites you most about where your career is heading next?
For now, I’m excited to be part of something that people can enjoy on a large scale. Beyond that, I’m looking forward to taking on roles that challenge me in new ways and continuing to learn with each project.
